Ro. Karma is also non-existent. One's own mind is free from grasping. Because there is no grasping, there is also no holding. It is very similar to that wave. The establishment of enjoyment bodies, etc., is the consciousness of sentient beings' appearances. From that, actions appear, like ocean waves. Then, Bodhisattva Mahamati again asked in verse: What is the substance of ocean waves, that it changes with movement? If it is like that from the Alaya, why is it not understood by reason? Then, the Bhagavan answered in verse: Children who do not possess wisdom will understand by relying on the analogy of the Alaya being like the ocean and the nature of karma being like waves. Then, Bodhisattva Mahamati again asked in verse: To beings who are good, bad, and mediocre, like an umbrella appearing equally, the Sugata, who makes the world bright, if he can speak the true Dharma well to children, etc., and can explain the reason for speaking with good distinction, why does he not speak the truth? Then, the Bhagavan answered in verse: If the truth were spoken, there would be no truth in their minds. Like the waves of the ocean, the images in a mirror, and dreams, all of those appear simultaneously, and the realm of the mind is also like that. Because they do not correspond with objects, actions arise and enter in sequence. Consciousness distinguishes, and the mind also thinks in that way. The five appear, but there is no definite order in this. Like a painter of drawings and the disciples of the painter, spreading colors for the sake of drawing, my explanation is also like that. There is no drawing in the colors, nor are there a brush and a base. For the sake of creating the joy of sentient beings, the drawing is manifested with colors. Explanations are practiced for the sake of others. True reality has abandoned letters. From distinctions, it is the first. To yogis, the truth is revealed. The truth of individual self-awareness is extremely separated from discrimination and speculation. This is taught to the sons of the Victorious Ones, but other distinctions are taught to children. Like various illusions, although they appear, they are not real. Likewise, various explanations are also established according to actions. If the explanation is not consistent, then it is not an explanation.

Just as skilled doctors prescribe different treatments for different patients, the Tathagata skillfully reveals teachings according to the inclinations of beings. The individual realms of practice spoken with compassion are not the realm of speculators, nor are they accessible to Shravakas. Furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva of great wisdom who wishes to fully understand the realm of grasping and apprehended conceptualizations that appear in their own mind should completely abandon gatherings, disturbances, and sleep. At dusk, dawn, and the middle watch of the night, one should always be mindful and diligently engage in yoga without sleeping. One should completely abandon the scriptures and speech of those with wrong views, as well as the characteristics of the Shravaka and Pratyekabuddha vehicles. One should realize the nature of the conceptualizations that appear in one's own mind. Furthermore, a Bodhisattva Mahasattva of great wisdom, abiding in the nature of wisdom and prajna, should diligently cultivate the three superior natures of wisdom. What are these three superior natures of wisdom that should be diligently cultivated? They are: the nature of non-appearance, the nature of the place of aspiration of all Buddhas, and the ultimate nature of wisdom realized by each individual Arya. By understanding these, the yogi abandons the nature of ordinary mind, wisdom, and knowledge, like that of a dull donkey, and upon attaining the eighth Bhumi of a Buddha's child, diligently cultivates these three natures. Among these, great wisdom, the nature of non-appearance, arises from complete familiarity with the natures of Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and Tirthikas. Great wisdom, the nature of one's own place of aspiration, arises from diligently cultivating the place of aspiration of past Buddhas. Great wisdom, the ultimate nature of wisdom realized by each individual Arya, is characterized by non-attachment to the nature of all dharmas, and by obtaining the body of an illusion-like samadhi.

arises from the practice of diligently entering the positions of the grounds. Mahamati, this is called the three characteristics of noble wisdom. If one possesses these three characteristics of noble wisdom, one will comprehend the ultimate realm of practice of the noble wisdom that one has realized. Therefore, Mahamati, one should diligently strive for these three characteristics of noble wisdom. The second chapter of the Noble Lankavatara Sutra. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati, knowing well the thoughts of the minds of those Bodhisattva retinues, through the power of the blessings of all the Buddhas, requested the Blessed One about this category of Dharma called "The Essence of Noble Wisdom and the Good Differentiation of Self-Nature." Blessed One, please explain to me the category of Dharma called "The Essence of Noble Wisdom and the Good Differentiation of Self-Nature."
