The Bhagavan replied: Mahamati, there are two kinds of arising, abiding, and ceasing for the various consciousnesses, which are not to be understood by speculators. There are also two kinds of arising for the various consciousnesses, namely, continuous arising and self-nature arising. There are also two kinds of abiding, namely, continuous abiding and self-nature abiding.
