From qualities to those possessing qualities, and from arising and transformation from arising, from appearance to seeing, from dust to minute dust, from wisdom to yogis, and to these and so forth, if prophecies are asked about in the manner of sequential characteristics from one to another, then this is said to be an establishment, the Blessed One did not prophesy. Those ignorant beings, how do they listen, because they do not possess wisdom, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, in order to abandon the places of fear for sentient beings, do not prophesy what is not prophesied. This is because the great wise ones did not speak in order to destroy the views of the non-Buddhists. The great wise non-Buddhists say thus: For example, this body is connected with life. The body is one thing, and life is another, and so forth, they speak without prophesying. Great wisdom, not speaking in a prophetic way, is for those non-Buddhists who are confused about causes, it is not in my scriptures. Great wisdom, if my scriptures are not in accordance with the grasped and the grasper, then even conceptual thoughts do not arise, how can there be establishment for them? Great wisdom, for those beings who are attached to the grasped and the grasper, and do not understand that their own mind is merely an appearance, there is establishment. Great wisdom, the Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Ones, teach the Dharma to sentient beings with four kinds of prophecies in response to the words asked. Great wisdom, what is called establishment, I have taught at other times, it is for those whose faculties are not yet mature. Furthermore, great wisdom, all dharmas are without action and without agent, because there is no agent, they do not arise. Therefore, all dharmas are called unborn. Great wisdom, all dharmas are without inherent existence, what is the reason for that? Great wisdom, if one analyzes and observes in this way with one's own wisdom, things cannot be established by their own characteristics and general characteristics, therefore all dharmas are called without inherent existence. Therefore, great wisdom, all dharmas are without taking and abandoning, what is the reason for that?

Furthermore, Mahamati, like this, self-characteristics and common characteristics, neither can be taken nor can be abandoned. Therefore, Mahamati, all dharmas are without taking and abandoning. Also, Mahamati, all dharmas are unceasing. What is the reason for that? Like this, because the self-nature and characteristics of things do not exist, all dharmas are invisible. Therefore, all dharmas are called unceasing. Also, Mahamati, all dharmas are impermanent. What is the reason for saying that? Because the arising of characteristics is impermanent, therefore all dharmas are called impermanent. Also, Mahamati, all dharmas are permanent. What is the reason for that? Like this, the arising of characteristics is the unborn thing, which is considered permanent. Therefore, Mahamati, all dharmas are called permanent. To this, it is said: Prophecy is of four kinds: beginning and questioning, classification and establishment, refuting the words of heretics. Arising from existence and non-existence are called Vaisheshika and Samkhya. All that do not prophesy are also fully explained by them. Even if analyzed with the mind, because the self-nature cannot be recognized, those are unspeakable, and it is also shown that there is no self-nature. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati again said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, by what means can the conduct of those who have entered the stream be distinguished in detail, and how can Bodhisattva Mahasattvas and other stream-enterers, through mastering the characteristics of the conduct of stream-enterers in detail, from higher to higher, return again and again, not return, and understand the characteristics of the methods of becoming Arhats, thereby understanding and teaching the Dharma to sentient beings in this way, and how to separately purify the two characteristics of selflessness and the two obscurations, thereby understanding the transcendence of the characteristics of the lands of each place, thereby obtaining the inconceivable conduct, realm, and field of activity of the Tathagata, like jewels of various shapes.

The source of life for all sentient beings, the realm of all dharmas, and the stream-enterers who live near by enjoying according to their desires for beings, please explain to me the characteristics of the ways to distinguish the fruits of stream-enterers who have entered the stream. The Blessed One said: Great Wisdom, therefore listen well and keep it well in mind, and I will tell you. Great Wisdom replied: Very well, Blessed One. The Bodhisattva Mahasattva Great Wisdom, listened again to the Blessed One, and the Blessed One said to him: Great Wisdom, the fruits of stream-enterers who have entered the stream are divided into these three: What are the three? Namely: the lowest, the middle, and the highest. Great Wisdom, the lowest will have seven more lives. Again, Great Wisdom, the middle will completely pass beyond sorrow in three or five existences. Great Wisdom, the highest will completely pass beyond sorrow in that very life. Great Wisdom, these three have three kinds of bonds: great, medium, and small. Great Wisdom, what are the three bonds? Namely: the view of the aggregates, doubt, and adherence to rules and vows. Great Wisdom, these are the three bonds, and by distinguishing them, from higher to higher, they will become the fruits of Arhatship for the Arhats. Great Wisdom, the view of the aggregates is also of two kinds: innate and completely imputed, which is the nature of being completely imputed by the power of others. For example, Great Wisdom, in the realm of the self-nature of the power of others, various attachments of completely imputed nature arise. Because of the characteristic of being completely imputed, it is neither existent nor non-existent, nor both existent and non-existent. However, just as a deer sees a mirage, fools discern various kinds of appearances due to attachment to the characteristics of various natures. Great Wisdom, that is the view of the aggregates of completely imputed nature of a stream-enterer.
