Thus he requested. World Honored One, how can I and other Bodhisattvas, with wisdom that has completely abandoned the evil views of superimposition and defamation, quickly attain the unexcelled, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and after manifesting Buddhahood, also abandon the views of permanence, superimposition, defamation, and annihilation, and not defame your Buddha Dharma? Please explain to me the nature of superimposition and defamation. Then, the World Honored One, understanding that the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Mahamati had requested again, spoke these verses: Superimposition and defamation, are not only in the mind. Like the body and enjoyment, who does not know the mind? In superimposition and defamation, the unwise often engage. Then, the World Honored One, in order to explain the meaning of these verses, again said this: Mahamati, superimposition on non-existence is of four types. What are the four types? Namely, superimposition on the nature of non-existence, superimposition on the view of non-existence, superimposition on the cause of non-existence, and superimposition on the object of non-existence. Mahamati, these are the four types of superimposition. Mahamati, what is defamation? Namely, this evil view of superimposition, without considering and discriminating, because of non-existence, is defamed. Mahamati, this is the nature of superimposition and defamation. Mahamati, furthermore, what is the nature of superimposition on the nature of non-existence? Namely, regarding the self and common characteristics of the aggregates, elements, and sense bases, clinging to the belief that this is it, not different from suchness. Mahamati, this is the nature of superimposition on the nature of non-existence. Mahamati, the conceptualization of superimposition on the nature of non-existence arises from clinging to various habitual tendencies of proliferation and bad habits from beginningless time. Mahamati, this is the nature of superimposition on the nature of non-existence. Mahamati, non-existence

The superimposition on views is the evil view of superimposing self, sentient being, life, nourishment, person, and individual on the aggregates, realms, and sense bases. Great Wisdom, this is called the superimposition on the view of non-existence. Great Wisdom, the superimposition on the cause of non-existence is like this: the alaya-consciousness, which was not previously born from a cause, later arises like a magic trick, not previously born and non-existent, from the cause of eye, form, appearance, and the prior engagement of memory. Having arisen from non-existence, it will also perish again. Great Wisdom, this is called the superimposition on the cause of non-existence. Great Wisdom, the superimposition on the thing of non-existence is like this: manifestly clinging to and superimposing on non-fabricated things such as space, cessation, and nirvana. Great Wisdom, all these dharmas are contrary to things and non-things, like rabbit horns, horse horns, donkey horns, mule horns, and tangled hair, separate from the sides of existence and non-existence. Great Wisdom, those childish beings whose minds have not realized that it is merely their own mind's appearance will superimpose and slander, but not the noble ones. Great Wisdom, this is the characteristic of superimposing and slandering by discriminating on the thing of non-existence. Therefore, Great Wisdom, one should be separated from the views of superimposition and slander. Great Wisdom, furthermore, Bodhisattvas, having understood the characteristics of mind, intellect, consciousness, the five dharmas, nature, and the two selflessnesses, hold onto form and appearance for the benefit of others. Like the other-powered nature and the completely imputed nature, like a wish-fulfilling jewel with various forms, in the mandalas of all Buddha-fields, from all Tathagatas, dharmas like dreams, illusions, mirages, images, and the moon in water appear, separated from all arising, ceasing, permanence, and annihilation, and teachings that are separate from the vehicles of all Hearers and Solitary Buddhas.

From obtaining hundreds of thousands of samādhis, up to obtaining billions, trillions, hundreds of thousands of samādhis. Having obtained them, in order to diligently make offerings to the Buddhas, by means of these samādhis, they go from buddha-field to buddha-field. In births, in celestial palaces, and in all places, they correctly show the Three Jewels, manifesting as the form of the Buddha, and being completely surrounded by the assembly of śrāvakas and bodhisattvas, in order to completely transform from the aspects of existence and non-existence, because they focus only on the appearance of their own minds, they show that external objects do not exist. Then, the Blessed One at that time spoke this verse: When the world is only mind, The sons of the Victorious One see well, At that time, the manifested body, Abandoning measurement and action, Possessing power, superknowledge, and mastery, Those ones will obtain accomplishment. Then, again, the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Mahāmati requested the Blessed One: Blessed One, by what kind of understanding of the characteristics of emptiness, unbornness, non-duality, and absence of own-being, can I and other bodhisattvas also completely abandon the conceptualizations of existence and non-existence, and quickly attain the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment? Please explain to me the emptiness, unbornness, non-duality, and absence of own-being characteristics of all dharmas. Then, the Blessed One spoke to the Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Mahāmati, saying: Mahāmati, therefore, listen very well and keep it in mind, and I will explain it to you. Mahāmati replied: Good, Blessed One. The Bodhisattva Mahāsattva Mahāmati then respectfully listened to the Blessed One's teachings. The Blessed One said to him: Mahāmati, emptiness, emptiness, this is merely a term for the nature of complete imputation. Mahāmati, because of clinging to the nature of complete imputation, one speaks of emptiness, unbornness, non-things, non-duality, and things without own-being. Mahāmati, that
