What is 'I'? It is that which relies on the collection of places and names of reliance, in order to subsequently establish terminology for the meaning of universal affliction and purification. What is a letter? It is the syllable of the place of those two. What is the individual and accurate knowledge of each of them? It is the individual and accurate knowledge through the attention that focuses on the unmixed. What is the individual and accurate knowledge from the condensed? It is the individual and accurate knowledge through the attention that focuses on the mixed. If all of these are combined into one, it is called the individual and accurate knowledge of the Dharma. Thus, it is the individual and accurate knowledge of the Dharma. Bodhisattvas individually and accurately know the meaning through ten aspects: suchness of what exists, suchness of how it exists, the meaning of grasping, the meaning of what is grasped, the meaning of abiding, the meaning of enjoyment, the meaning of perversion, the meaning of non-perversion, the meaning of universal affliction, and the meaning of purification. Maitreya, what is the ultimate end of all the various distinctions in those universally afflicted and purified dharmas? It is the suchness of what exists, such as the number of aggregates being five, the number of internal sources being six, and the number of external sources also being only six, and so on. Maitreya, what is the suchness of those universally afflicted and purified dharmas themselves? It is the suchness of how it exists, which has seven aspects: the suchness of arising is the beginningless and endless nature of all conditioned things; the suchness of characteristics is the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of dharmas of all dharmas; the suchness of consciousness is the consciousness itself of all conditioned things; the suchness of abiding is what I have shown as the truth of suffering; the suchness of wrong means is what I have shown as the truth of the origin; the suchness of purification is what I have shown as the truth of cessation; the suchness of right means is what I have shown as the truth of the path.

What is it? Maitreya, in that Maitreya, what is the suchness of arising, what is the suchness of abiding, and what is the suchness of reversed establishment, by which all sentient beings are the same and equal. Maitreya, in that Maitreya, what is the suchness of characteristic, and what is the suchness of consciousness, by which it is the same and equal with all dharmas. Maitreya, in that suchness of complete purification, what is the Bodhi of the Hearers, what is the Bodhi of the Solitary Buddhas, and what is the Unsurpassed Perfect and Complete Bodhi, all Bodhis are the same and equal. Maitreya, in that suchness of true establishment, the wisdom of Shamatha and Vipassana combined, which focuses on the Dharma where all teachings are mixed, is the same and equal. Maitreya, in that, the meaning of what is grasped are the five physical sense bases, as well as mind, intellect, consciousness, and mental factors. Maitreya, in that, the meaning of what is apprehended are the six external sense bases. Maitreya, moreover, what is the meaning of what is grasped, that is also the meaning of what is apprehended. Maitreya, in that, the meaning of the place is the world, where it resides, the realm of sentient beings appears. For example, a village, and a hundred villages, and a thousand, and a million, and the land up to the ocean, and a hundred and a million, Jambudvipa, and a hundred, and a thousand, and a million, the four continents, and a hundred, and a thousand, and a million, a thousand worlds, and a hundred, and a thousand, and a million, a two-thousand intermediate world, and a hundred, and a thousand, and a million, a three-thousand great thousand world, and a hundred, and a thousand, and a million, and ten million, and ten million times a hundred, and ten million times a thousand, and ten million times a million, and countless, and countless times a hundred, and countless times a thousand, and countless times a million, all the worlds of the ten directions, immeasurable countless three-thousand great thousand worlds, countless millions of dust particles.
