If so, how is it skillful? If one truly understands the two kinds of bonds, namely the bonds of signs and the bonds of bad states, and after truly understanding them, is able to liberate the mind from these bonds, this is called skillful. How is it skillful in increasing? If, when the mind that is the antidote to signs and bad states arises and increases, one recognizes that it is arising and increasing, this is called skillful in increasing. How is it skillful in decreasing? If, when the mind that is contrary to this, namely the afflicted mind of signs and bad states, decreases and diminishes, one recognizes that it is decreasing and diminishing, this is called skillful in decreasing. How is it skillful in means? If one practices liberation and the spheres of mastery, as well as the cessation attainments, etc. Maitreya, in this way, Bodhisattvas are able to realize the great power of Bodhisattvas, and are able to realize and are realizing it. Bhagavan, what are those true feelings that the Bhagavan spoke of as ceasing completely in the realm of nirvana without remainder of aggregates? Maitreya, in brief, two kinds of feelings cease: the consciousness of bad states of the place, and the consciousness of its resultant object. Among these, the consciousness of bad states of the place can be understood in four ways: the consciousness of bad states of the form realm, the consciousness of bad states of the formless realm, the consciousness of bad states with accomplished results, and the consciousness of bad states with unaccomplished results. Among these, the accomplished result is the present one. The unaccomplished result is that which is the cause of the future. The consciousness of the object should also be understood in four ways: the consciousness of the place, the consciousness of the equipment, the consciousness of the enjoyment, and the consciousness of the dependence. These are all in the realm of nirvana with remainder of aggregates. The feeling that arises from the accumulation of consciousness of unaccomplished results, is not completely ceased in all times and places, but is experienced as a guide. As for the experience of accomplished results, both of these feelings are completely in all times and places.

All cease, and only the feeling arising from the contact of the gathering of consciousness is experienced. When completely passing into nirvana in the realm of nirvana without remainder of aggregates, it will also cease. Therefore, in the realm of nirvana without remainder of aggregates, all feelings are said to cease. Having spoken thus, the Blessed One said to the Bodhisattva Maitreya: Maitreya, you have begun from the perfection and utter purity of the path of yoga, for example, those who are extremely knowledgeable and skilled in yoga have asked questions of the Tathagata, well done, well done! I have also proclaimed the perfection and purity of the path of yoga, and all the perfectly enlightened Buddhas of the past and future will also proclaim and teach it in this way. Sons of good families and daughters of good families should strive diligently in this. Then, the Blessed One spoke these verses at that time: What is the establishment of the designation of all dharmas? That is yoga, mindfulness, and great meaning. Those who rely on that dharma and diligently practice this yoga Will attain enlightenment. Those who seek flaws and argue in that way, And view liberation as understanding all dharmas, Maitreya, they are as far from this yoga As the distance between the sky and the earth. Those who are intelligent and say they are for the benefit of sentient beings, But do not strive for the benefit of sentient beings after knowing the answer, If they contemplate that answer, they will not attain all that is supreme And the joy without defilement. Those who pour out the teachings of the Dharma for the sake of desire, They accept it for the sake of abandoning desire, Those who are ignorant, those jewels of the Dharma, Even if they find priceless treasures, they abandon and let them go. Therefore, completely abandon disputes and the proliferation of busyness, Practice supreme diligence, For the sake of liberating the world including the gods, Strive diligently in this yoga. Then, the Bodhisattva Maitreya said to the Blessed One: Blessed One, what is the name of this category of Dharma that explains the definitive meaning? How should we hold it? The Blessed One said to him:

This is Maitreya, the exposition of the definitive meaning of Yoga. Hold this exposition of the definitive meaning of Yoga. When this exposition of the definitive meaning of Yoga was taught, six hundred thousand beings generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Three hundred thousand Shravakas, in all dharmas, obtained the Dharma-eye, stainless, immaculate, and pure. One hundred and fifty thousand Shravakas were liberated in mind from all outflows, without further rebirth. Seventy-five thousand Bodhisattvas obtained the attention of great Yoga.
