Wherever I am born, I will not fall into ninety-five countless eons. For eighty thousand eons, I will retain what I have heard. For a thousand eons, I will abstain from killing. For ninety-nine thousand eons, I will abstain from lying. For thirteen thousand eons, I will abstain from divisive speech. In short, those sentient beings who hear this Dharma teaching are rare to find. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Ever Courageous rose from his seat, draped his upper robe over one shoulder, knelt on his right knee, and, with palms joined, bowed in the direction of the Blessed One. He then addressed the Blessed One, saying: Blessed One, how much accumulation of sinful deeds will those who abandon this Dharma teaching create? The Blessed One replied: Ever Courageous, much. He asked: Blessed One, how much accumulation of sinful deeds will those sentient beings create? The Blessed One replied: Ever Courageous, be silent! Be silent! Do not ask me about all the accumulations of sinful deeds. Ever Courageous, compared to generating hatred towards the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, as numerous as the sands of twelve Ganges Rivers, those who slander any sutra will create a much greater accumulation of non-virtue. Ever Courageous, those who generate hatred towards the Great Vehicle will also create a much greater accumulation of non-virtue. Ever Courageous, those sentient beings are truly pitiable! Truly pitiable! Ever Courageous asked: Blessed One, are those sentient beings unable to be liberated? The Blessed One replied: Ever Courageous, it is so; they cannot be liberated. Ever Courageous, it is like this: for example, if someone's head is cut off, and then medicine, honey, rock candy, brown sugar, butter, sesame oil, or any ointment is applied to the head, Ever Courageous, what do you think? Can that sentient being revive? Ever Courageous replied: Blessed One, it is of no use. The Blessed One replied: Ever Courageous, there is also another person who exists

La. If one wounds other sentient beings with a sharp weapon, even if a single blow does not kill them, it will cause them to be covered in wounds. If treated with medicine, the wounds can heal. When the pain has healed, remembering the suffering, one thinks: 'Now I understand, I will never again commit any evil or unwholesome deeds.' Thinking in this way, then, hero, when that person remembers the suffering, they will completely abandon all evil. At that time, they will directly realize all dharmas. Having directly realized all dharmas, they will then perfect all virtuous dharmas. Hero, for example, if someone's parents die, they grieve and lament, but it is of no avail. Similarly, hero, ignorant sentient beings cannot benefit themselves or others. Just as parents eventually despair, these sentient beings will also feel despair at the time of death. Hero, these two are the sources of despair for sentient beings. Who are these two? They are: those who commit or incite others to commit evil deeds, and those who slander the true Dharma. These two are the sources of despair for sentient beings at the time of death. The Bodhisattva Hero asked: World Honored One, where will these sentient beings be reborn? What will their future life be like? The World Honored One replied: Hero, those sentient beings who slander the true Dharma, their destination is boundless, and their future life is also boundless. Hero, those sentient beings who abandon the true Dharma will experience the suffering of crying out in the great hells for eons. They will experience division, heat, extreme heat, the great black rope hell, the uninterrupted hell, the great noisy hell, and the howling hell for eons. Hero, they will experience the suffering of eight eons in those eight great hot hells. After that, the World Honored One...

The Bodhisattva Mahasattva Ever-Diligent Bodhisattva asked as follows: "World Honored One, it is suffering. Sugata, it is suffering. I am not pleased to hear it." Then the World Honored One at that time spoke these verses: How sentient beings in hells, intensely feel sufferings, To these words of great fear, are you not pleased to listen? Whoever does virtuous deeds, that turns into goodness, Whoever does non-virtuous deeds, that also turns into suffering. Whoever does not know the cause of happiness, Suffers constantly from the suffering of birth and death, And the suffering of being bound by sorrow, children always suffer. Those who remember the supreme Buddha, the wise are happy, Those who have faith in the Great Vehicle, they will not go to bad destinies. Ever-Diligent, in this way, urged by previous karma, Even if the work done is small, one will enjoy endless fruits. In the supreme field of the Buddha-field, planting seeds yields great fruit, Just as from planting few seeds, one enjoys many fruits. Those who rejoice in the Victorious One's teachings, the wise become happy, All sins are completely abandoned, and many virtuous deeds are also done. Whoever in my teachings, gives a gift as small as a hair, For eighty thousand myriads of kalpas, will have great enjoyment and much wealth. Wherever they are born, they are always generous, Thus, the place of Buddha's giving, is profound and its fruit is great. Then, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Ever-Diligent Bodhisattva asked the World Honored One: "World Honored One, how should I seek the Dharma taught by the World Honored One? World Honored One, how can I, after hearing the Dharma category of the Twin Sutra, fully uphold the root of virtue?" The World Honored One replied: "Ever-Diligent, if someone were to serve and honor as many Tathagatas, Arhats, Perfectly Awakened Buddhas as there are grains of sand in twelve Ganges Rivers with all means of happiness, then the accumulation of merit of one who hears this Dharma category of the Twin Sutra should also be known in the same way." Bodhisattva Ever-
