One will be able to survive for eighty-four thousand kalpas. Listen, O Mighty One! If any Bodhisattva Mahasattva hears even a four-line verse from this Dharma discourse, O Mighty One, it is like this: if any sentient being commits or causes to commit the five inexpiable sins, or rejoices in those who commit them, but if they hear even a four-line verse from this Dharma discourse, then their sinful deeds of the five inexpiable sins will be purified. Chapter Two. Listen, O Mighty One, and I will explain other virtues as well. It is like this: for example, if some sentient beings destroy stupas, cause dissension in the Sangha, disturb Bodhisattvas from their samadhi, obstruct the wisdom of the Buddhas, and kill human beings, these sentient beings later regret and grieve, thinking: "I am ruined by this body." They will also be ruined in the next world, and I have become unworthy. Thus, they develop great sorrow and experience suffering, experiencing unbearable feelings. O Mighty One, those sentient beings will be abandoned by all sentient beings and will be reproached. Those sentient beings are burned, have become unworthy, and have made both worldly and transcendental Dharma unworthy. Just like a burned stump, that person will remain the same for many kalpas. Just as a well-decorated house becomes unsightly when the beams are burned, so too will that person become. They are not beautiful in this world either. Wherever they go, they will be scolded and beaten by sentient beings, afflicted by hunger and thirst, and will find nothing at all. Therefore, experiencing the feeling of suffering, remembering the destruction of stupas and the commission of the five inexpiable sins due to the causes of hunger and thirst and the causes of reproach, they think: "Where shall I go? Who is my protector?" Thus, they develop a mind of aversion to suffering and think to themselves: "There is no protector for me here, I will go to the mountains and valleys and there meet the time of death." He said:

I have committed sinful deeds, Like firewood constantly burning. Neither is this world beautiful, Nor is the next life beautiful. Neither is it beautiful inside the house, Nor is it beautiful outside. The cause of faults is committing sins, Therefore, one will go to the lower realms. If there is suffering in the next life, Where does one dwell in this lower realm? With tears welling up, weeping loudly, The gods also heard the words. Alas! In the next world, Going to the lower realms, hope is lost. The gods said to him: Foolish person, thinking thus, Abandon suffering and go away! Having killed both father and mother, I have committed the five inexpiable sins, I have no refuge or helper, I will experience the feeling of suffering. Having gone to the top of the mountain, Then I will abandon this body. Foolish person, do not go! With a harmful mind, You have committed many sins, Do not commit sinful deeds! Whoever harms me, Suffering beings will go to hell. Because of grieving and weeping, Therefore, one will fall to the ground. With that effort, one will not become a Buddha, Nor will one become a Bodhisattva. One will not obtain the vehicle of liberation of the Hearers, Strive greatly with other efforts! Go to that mountain where the sage is, Having gone and seen the great sage, Bowing with the head at his feet, Holy sentient being, please protect me! I am oppressed by fear and tormented by suffering, Essence of sentient beings, sage, hear my words! Please sit and analyze the state of mind, Even for a moment, please speak of virtuous Dharma! Because I am oppressed by fear and tormented by suffering, Therefore, I beseech you to stay for a moment! I wish to confess all the many sins I have committed, Sage, please give me instructions! The sage said: You are troubled by suffering, weeping, and grieving, You are threatened by hunger and thirst, Because of despair, wandering in the three realms, Eat whatever food is given! For the sake of satisfying the body. The sage then gave food, Having eaten delicious and pleasing food, The sentient being became very happy. That which purifies all sins.
