said. It is just so. Because it is the characteristic of falling into error, neither should many be relied upon, nor should few be relied upon. Young man, the essence of this is this itself, namely: abandoning all aggregates is nirvana. Young man, what is the use of repeatedly experiencing the round of rebirth, which has faults and involves repeated deaths? You should aspire to nirvana. Young man, the dwelling of beings in the womb is suffering. Separation from what is pleasing and encountering what is displeasing is suffering. Young man, the body, being without essence and impermanent, leading astray completely is suffering. Life itself being impermanent is suffering. Enjoyment itself being impermanent and enjoyment itself being without essence is suffering. Young man, repeated death itself is suffering. Young man, therefore, I say to you that the arising of the Tathagata, the attainment of human existence, the possession of leisure and endowments, and the unsurpassed faith in the teachings of the Tathagata are difficult to obtain. Young man, therefore, having obtained these places, do not abandon them. Young man, if I wish to show and speak of these places, listen if you wish to answer. If I abide by the subsequent teachings, then that is your subsequent teaching, listen and understand. Then, the king's young man, having regained mindfulness, said this to the demon Forgetfulness: O man, I rejoice in you. That you say thus: birth, aging, sickness, and death are suffering. Likewise, in the cycle of rebirth, it is the same, I greatly rejoice. O man, also you say to quickly be completely liberated from suffering. O man, having heard your words, I have developed great compassion for sentient beings, for these sentient beings are tormented by repeated birth, aging, sickness, and death. After I have attained unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, I will liberate those sentient beings from repeated birth and

To be transformed by the power of aging, sickness, and death, in order not to become like that, I must be completely liberated from the fear of birth, aging, sickness, and death, I thought. Hey, you saying to me that it is wonderful to have attained Nirvana and then greatly proclaim the sufferings of Samsara. After hearing those, I developed great compassion for sentient beings. If I were to completely pass into Nirvana, who would be the protector and liberator of those sentient beings? Then, the demon Forgetting-Self said to the king's youth, Remembrance-Gained: "Youth, didn't you say that even that which has the least faults should be relied upon?" He replied, "Yes, that is indeed so, even that which has the least faults should be relied upon." Hey, unsurpassed perfect enlightenment is without fault, therefore, that is what should be relied upon. Then, the demon Forgetting-Self said to the king's youth, Remembrance-Gained: "Youth, although unsurpassed perfect enlightenment is without fault, youth, even if I have not attained it, how could you possibly attain it? Youth, I also thought before, I will manifestly realize unsurpassed perfect enlightenment. After generating such a wrong thought, immediately beggars like this, begging for heads and hands and feet and eyes and ears and sons and wives and enjoyments and vehicles and houses and servants and gardens and jewels and pearls and lapis lazuli and conches and agates and coral and wealth and grain and royal power, etc., constantly tormented and greatly tormented me. After enduring hardships, I gave away all my possessions, but my body was destroyed, and rivers of blood flowed from my body, tormenting my mind, therefore I abandoned that aspiration. If you do not believe, do you want to see my asceticism?" He replied, "Hey, I want to see, that will become my benefit." Then, the demon Forgetting-Self thought, I should make the Bodhicitta

However, he did not believe any of the obstructions that the mindful one made. He thought, 'Show me something more that will convince me.' Then, the demon manifested four rivers of blood in front of that prince. He also manifested four piles of gold like snow mountains, and piles of heads that were completely gnawed, scarlet, and rotten, like Mount Sumeru. In addition, he manifested piles of bones as white as conch shells, like mountains. There were also various kinds of severed arms and legs, severed ears, and limbs and incomplete limbs of various shapes. For example, the shapes of humans, kinnaras, yakshas, lions, tigers, horses, rabbits, monkeys, bears, leopards, pigs, deer, bears, elephants, buffaloes, and so on. Similarly, there were the shapes of fish, crocodiles, child-eating crocodiles, and naga crocodiles. There were also the corpses of swans, peacocks, crows, cuckoos, kalavinkas, wagtails, cuckoos, terns, mountain magpies, and so on. Some corpses had only one head, some had two heads, three heads, four heads, five heads, six heads, seven heads, eight heads, nine heads, ten heads, twenty heads, thirty heads, forty heads, fifty heads, and even a hundred thousand heads. Some corpses had one tongue, some had two tongues, three tongues, four tongues, five tongues, and even a hundred thousand tongues. Some corpses had one eye, and even a hundred thousand eyes. These corpses transformed each other's eyes, transformed ears, teeth made clicking sounds, and bit their own lips with their teeth. Yakshas stood holding various kinds of incompatible weapons in their hands. After such great terror and frightening things manifested, he said to the mindful prince, 'Prince, these are the flowing rivers of blood! These are the four great bone mountains!' (The demon) said, 'Alas, can't you see?'
