If I generate the thought of not praising, then my words will cause those foolish people to no longer rely on the sutras. After I pass away, when praising the Tathagata, praising the Dharma, and praising the Sangha, you should not be disrespectful, you should not disbelieve, you should not have different thoughts, and you should not be displeased. The Tathagata said this. If I were to generate teachings for them, it would be like this: one who possesses a jealous mind is not the Dharma of a Shramana, and is common with non-Shramanas, like this: the place of entering the path that is common with non-Shramanas is mostly a part of many faults. The Bodhi of the Tathagatas is difficult to fathom. Therefore, I should teach that only the mindfulness of close abiding should be taught. Well-guarded, the nature of all dharmas abiding is precisely not abiding. All dharmas abiding in that way are precisely non-conceptual. Well-guarded, like this, the gate of entry, the gate of realization, and the gate of liberation are the gates of mindfulness of close abiding. Well-guarded, abiding and non-abiding, these are two. Well-guarded, because of right view and not observing the extremes, abandoning the extremes is non-attachment to the two. Well-guarded, the Tathagata has not attained the extremes, so it is not abandoning the extremes, but because of not observing what, it is because of that that the Tathagata has abandoned it. Well-guarded, the Dharma abandoned by the Tathagata, just as children grasp it, the wise should not grasp it. Well-guarded, just as the Dharma nature of all dharmas is not abandoned, is not truly extinguished, is not abandoned, and is not attained. Well-guarded, which god came to me and said these words, my answer to that god was like this: Shramana, are you pleased? I said: God, what do I have to be pleased about? Shramana, are you displeased? I said: God, what do I have to waste? He asked:

Not pleased with practice, nor harboring ill will, excellent, excellent! The deity Good Protector and its retinue have gathered here. Good Protector knows that all dharmas are inherently completely beyond sorrow. That deity pleased five hundred Buddhas in the past. Having pleased them, that deity quickly attained such manifest knowledge. Good Protector, I do not say that those sentient beings who have not generated roots of virtue, and those whose roots of virtue have not fully ripened, will be disciplined by those dharmas through faith. Likewise, the faith of the Hearers is not seen. Good Protector, the root of virtue of those who, having heard those dharmas, will immediately develop faith upon hearing, or will develop respect, or will develop pure faith, will become small internally. Above that, the wisdom of the aggregate of wisdom is extremely vast, so the roots of virtue that enter into wisdom should be regarded as vast. Then, Good Protector and the other approximately five hundred Bodhisattvas scattered lotus flowers like hands upon the Blessed One, and having scattered them manifestly, they spoke these words: Blessed One, those who, focusing on the category of dharmas of lotus flowers like hands, seek them completely or listen to them, all of them will definitely attain unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Blessed One, those Buddhas, Blessed Ones, who reside in the ten directions, the Thus-Gone Ones, the Arhats, the perfectly complete Buddhas, also, with that focus, for the sake of completely ripening the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment of sentient beings, we request that the Dharma be taught. Then, the Blessed One, knowing, spoke these words to the Bodhisattva, the great being Good Protector: Good Protector, have you been relied upon by sentient beings? For what reason have you donned armor for the benefit of sentient beings in order to completely ripen the dharmas of the aspects of enlightenment of sentient beings, and do you request that the Thus-Gone Ones, the Arhats, the perfectly complete Buddhas, teach the Dharma? Having spoken thus, the Blessed One
