Holding pure views and adhering to precepts, and also causing others to accept pure practices, some śrāmaṇas and brahmins believe that they can attain purity through their respective auspiciousness and numerous truths, while other śrāmaṇas and brahmins are inclined towards the teachings of others. Living beings should know that whatever is to be seen is neither necessary nor appropriate. It is neither necessary nor appropriate for a person with perfect views to manifest and achieve the eight human states. It is neither necessary nor appropriate for a woman to attain the status of Indra, Mara, or Brahma by her own power. It is neither necessary nor appropriate for a woman to become a Chakravartin king by her own power. It is neither necessary nor appropriate for a woman to become a Tathāgata, Arhat, Samyaksaṃbuddha by her own power. It is neither necessary nor appropriate for two Tathāgatas, Arhats, Samyaksaṃbuddhas to appear in the world simultaneously in one world realm. Householder, therefore, the Tathāgata fully knows the knowledge of what is not possible as it is. Householder, furthermore, the Tathāgata fully knows as it is the person who has attained what is not possible, because this person has pleased so many Buddhas, therefore he is not a vessel for the Dharma of the Buddhas, the Dharma of the Pratyekabuddhas, and the Dharma of the Śrāvakas, thus the Tathāgata fully knows the knowledge of what is not possible as it is. If someone asks the Tathāgata about the knowledge of what is not possible, from one kalpa to countless kalpas, he can answer, and his eloquence will not be exhausted. Therefore, here, whoever's eye of wisdom can enter without obstruction, he will enjoy this sandalwood cloister and pavilion. Householder, furthermore, how does the Tathāgata fully know the arising of what is not possible as it is?

If asked how to know, then, for this householder, the Tathagata, by what cause and what condition, can fully understand the knowledge of the arising of non-place knowledge, and truly know those causes and those conditions as they are. If he dwells in seeing the permanent as real, or seeing no suffering as real, or seeing no disease as real, or seeing no boil as real, or seeing no stinging pain as real, or seeing no sin as real, or seeing non-difference as real, or seeing non-destruction as real, or seeing no movement as real, or seeing non-extreme destruction as real, or seeing non-infectious disease as real, or seeing non-emptiness as real, or seeing self as real, or seeing no breathing out as real, or seeing no fault as real, or seeing no harm as real, or dwells in seeing non-retribution as real, this is called the knowledge of the arising of non-place knowledge. The Tathagata knows, comprehends, and realizes it. Therefore, the Tathagata, with his wisdom, truly knows the knowledge of the arising of non-place knowledge, and this is called the knowledge of the arising of non-place knowledge. If someone asks questions about the Tathagata's knowledge of the arising of non-place knowledge, and answers from the time of one kalpa, even to the time of countless kalpas, his eloquence will not be exhausted. Householder, why is this? Because the Tathagata has thoroughly comprehended the unsurpassed realm of Dharma with wisdom. Because the Tathagata has comprehended this, if someone asks questions about the Tathagata's knowledge of the arising of non-place knowledge, and answers from the time of one kalpa, even to the time of countless kalpas, his eloquence will not be exhausted. Therefore, here, whose wisdom-sight can enter without obstruction, he can enjoy this sandalwood cloister and pavilion. Householder,

If so, does the Tathagata truly know the knowledge of the cessation of knowledge of what is not the place? Householder, the Tathagata truly knows this: beings who do not rely on the Tathagata give rise to knowledge of what is not the place, and if they rely on the Tathagata, they can be separated from it. Householder, in this way, the Tathagata truly knows the knowledge of the cessation of knowledge of what is not the place. Householder, furthermore, the Tathagata truly knows this: making benefit for immeasurable beings, preventing non-benefit, making light, eliminating darkness, completely liberating immeasurable beings from suffering, and placing them in happiness, this is the knowledge of the cessation of knowledge of what is not the place, and it is also the nature of the Dharma that has not been born from the beginning. Householder, in this way, the Tathagata truly knows the knowledge of the cessation of knowledge of what is not the place. If someone asks the Tathagata about the knowledge of the cessation of knowledge of what is not the place, from answering in kalpas to unspeakable kalpas and again unspeakable kalpas, his eloquence will not be exhausted. Therefore, here, whoever's wisdom appears unobstructed, he will enjoy this sandalwood courtyard and pavilion. Householder, if so, does the Tathagata truly know the path that will cut off the knowledge of what is not the place? Householder, the Tathagata truly knows this: the extreme ignorance that shows what is not the place, the extreme ignorance that arises from not knowing, that is separated from self-nature. Therefore, there is no Dharma of extreme ignorance, because all Dharmas are separated from self-nature. Householder, in this way, the Tathagata truly knows the path that will cut off the knowledge of what is not the place. Householder, furthermore, the Tathagata truly knows the path that will cut off the knowledge of what is not the place with the wisdom that completely knows it, if one dwells in following observation without tasting the taste, or if one dwells in following observation without fault.
