Beautiful to behold, with flourishing and excellent colors, rising early and sleeping late. Their forms are like goddesses, and their virtues are like being free from desire. Then, King All-Knowing, dwelling among those eighty thousand women, thus entered into samadhi. As the mind was thus placed in equanimity, he thoroughly understood the distinctions of meditation, the distinctions of afflictions, and the distinctions of virtues, just as they are. This assembly of women—these are distinctions of wisdom, these are distinctions of afflictions, these are distinctions of virtues. He, dwelling among the women, soon understood the eighty thousand women. To those women whose bodies were weak in wisdom and possessed the power of afflictions, he taught the Dharma that generates wisdom in order to subdue their afflictions. To those women who had little power of afflictions and possessed the power of wisdom, he taught the Dharma in order to abandon whatever small afflictions they had. To those women who practiced desire, he taught impurity and impermanence; to those who practiced hatred, he taught loving-kindness and impermanence; to those who practiced delusion, he taught dependent origination and impermanence; to those who practiced conceptualization, he taught mindfulness of breathing in and out and impermanence; to those who practiced signs, he taught signlessness and impermanence; to those who were manifestly attached to self, he taught emptiness and impermanence; to those who craved existence, he taught wishlessness and impermanence. Thus, whatever afflictions they practiced, he severed them with their respective antidotes. Those women who practiced desire cultivated meditation, practiced the path of Brahma, and were born in the world of Brahma. To those women who practiced hatred, he cultivated the immeasurable and taught the path of Brahma. Those women, abiding in the immeasurable, practiced the path of Brahma and were born in the world of Brahma. Those women who practiced signs cultivated signlessness and taught the path of Brahma. Those women cultivated signlessness and practiced the path of Brahma.

From the earth, they were born into the heavenly realms. For those women who were particularly attached to desire for existence, he enabled them to achieve desirelessness and showed them the path of Brahma. Those women achieved desirelessness, practiced the path of Brahma, and were born into the realm of Brahma. Thus, King All-Knowing truly demonstrated the deeds of wisdom, afflictions, and merit. Those eighty million women were established in detachment from desire and were born into the realm of Brahma. Maudgalyayana's son, what do you think? Do you think that the king All-Knowing at that time was someone else? You should not see it that way, for I was the king All-Knowing at that time. He was skilled in the distinctions between inferior and middling wisdom, skilled in the distinctions between inferior and middling afflictions, and skilled in the distinctions between inferior and middling merits. Maudgalyayana, therefore, a Bodhisattva should be skilled in the inferior and middling of all dharmas. Maudgalyayana, in order to know that I sequentially know all arising, when I was previously practicing the conduct of a Bodhisattva, I thought, 'After I attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, how should I truly demonstrate to sentient beings the sequential knowledge of all arising?' And so, I manifestly accumulated countless various roots of virtue. Maudgalyayana's son, in the immeasurable past eons, far, far beyond that, there was a king named Reproach of Afflictions. That king Reproach of Afflictions had ninety hundred thousand consorts, who were beautiful and lovely in form, pleasing to behold, with excellent complexions, full and endowed with the best. Among them, whichever women saw with their eyes, those very women truly knew the fruit of afflictions and the fruit of karma. Having known the fruit of afflictions and the fruit of karma, they completely ceased to arise from all afflictions, and they also understood those reproaches. He, with his own karma and
