The Buddha's field is formed by three thousand great thousand worlds as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River. In that Buddha's field, no sentient being bound by defiled discipline, or all defiled sentient beings, will be born there. All beings who have previously attained perfect and complete enlightenment, and those who have planted virtuous roots, will plant virtuous roots together with the Tathagata's unobstructed eye. Then, the Tathagata's unobstructed eye comprehends the thoughts of those beings and praises the ten powers of the Tathagata. Relying on the ten powers of the Tathagata, all perfections will be manifestly accomplished. To understand these, even if the body, skin, tendons, and bones are withered, and the abdomen, flesh, and blood are completely dried up, one should still exert diligence. If diligence is abandoned, the ten powers of the Tathagata will not be obtained. All of them are endowed with the condition of exerting diligence, therefore they strive to obtain the ten powers of the Tathagata. The Tathagata's unobstructed eye goes before all of them, and the Tathagata places all those immeasurable sentient beings in the wisdom of the Buddha, causing them all to attain unsurpassed perfect and complete enlightenment and enter Nirvana. Maudgalyayana's son, what do you think? If you think that the king named Good Eye at that time was someone else, do not think that way, I was the king named Good Eye at that time. Therefore, from then on, there is no satiety in maturing sentient beings. What is the reason for that? Because when a Bodhisattva practices the Bodhisattva conduct, the more sentient beings are matured, the closer they are to Nirvana. Maudgalyayana's son, no one can fully know the number of those sentient beings, I have led so many sentient beings into Nirvana. The number of sentient beings cannot be estimated either, Maudgalyayana's son, I will not cut off the lineage of the Buddha.

Having entered for the sake of cutting off (saṃsāra), I have established and matured so many sentient beings in the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Maudgalyāyana's son, therefore, a bodhisattva should be engaged in not severing the lineage of the Buddha. Maudgalyāyana's son, in order to know the various realms, to know the arising of all, when I practiced the conduct of a bodhisattva in the past, having obtained the knowledge of knowing the various realms, knowing all arising, I thought, how should I benefit sentient beings? And I accumulated various kinds of roots of virtue. Maudgalyāyana's son, in the past, immeasurable eons ago, far beyond that, there was a blacksmith named Well-Understanding, a blacksmith who was intelligent, clear, and upright in mind, who had studied with artisans. Through thorough study, he knew how to enter a golden image, he also knew how to exit, and he also knew its value. Because he had no confusion whatsoever about the value of a golden image that had been thoroughly studied, the fame "Alas, this blacksmith is truly clever!" spread widely in all directions, and he was praised in speech and verse. Because he was proficient in the essence of craftsmanship, his fame spread throughout the royal palace and beyond, and he also gained many benefits from it. The king gave him clothes, and all people considered the words of that craftsman worthy of being heeded. Maudgalyāyana's son, what do you think? Do you think that the blacksmith named Well-Understanding at that time was someone else? You should not think that way, for I myself was that blacksmith named Well-Understanding at that time.

Nourished by many lands and exceedingly joyful. Knowing the times, knowing what is not the time, knowing the unknown, knowing the father, knowing the self, knowing the retinue, following the thoughts of the world, and able to grasp the thoughts of beings merely by speaking words, such a one appeared. His daughter, named "Heroine of Travelers," had planted roots of virtue in immeasurable Tathagatas, was broad-minded, with little desire, little hatred, and little delusion, surpassing the complexion of humans, having perfectly attained a complexion like that of the gods, supremely skilled in the art of dance, skilled in rituals, and able to capture the eyes of all beings with just a glance. At that time, many assemblies of people gathered there, and many assemblies were seated. Then, the dancer's daughter, "Heroine of Travelers," adorned with all ornaments, sat in the midst of the assembly and sang these songs: This youth goes like the water of a mountain. A moment, a short time, an instant, it falls away utterly. Childlike beings are utterly intoxicated. They faint and do not know the power of swaying. Like thick autumn clouds without essence, youth passes away like the force of fluttering. Those who are bound by the bonds of form do not perceive it as impermanent and falling away. Like a toy of a child blown by the wind, those who are unwise and of poor intellect are deluded and do not know that they are going to death. They are defiled in mind by fruitlessness. That impermanent destruction makes them wither. Those without merit are deprived of life by death. Whoever is skilled in the words of the Victorious Ones, always diligent in the joy associated with youth, the wise should not rejoice in that. The wise should examine the impermanence and meaninglessness of youth in the teachings of the Sugata. Joy and happiness prematurely steal youth. If people are wise and intelligent, they will contemplate this selfless youth. Just as a man seeks his own possessions, so too does joy seek its own possessions. Whoever despises the vessel, for as long as I dwell in it. Likewise, youth serves my purpose, I am like a vessel despised by someone. As long as I dwell in youth, I will not diminish strength and diligence. My youth is prematurely stolen by old age, the Victorious Ones'
