This is a being who truly dwells in hell. This person is in the realm of animals, this person truly dwells in the realm of animals. This person is in the world of Yama, this person truly dwells in the world of Yama. This person is an Asura, this person truly dwells in the world of Asuras. This person is a human, this person truly dwells in the world of humans. This person is a god, this person truly dwells in the world of gods. This person is completely liberated, this person truly dwells in complete liberation. Thus, from actions, infer afflictions; from afflictions, infer beings; from beings, infer realms; from realms, infer karmic results; from karmic results, infer samsara; from samsara, infer the suffering of samsara; from the suffering of samsara, infer actions and afflictions. If suffering and all afflictions are exhausted, then there will surely be liberation. Because afflictions are exhausted, actions are exhausted. Because actions are exhausted, there is no manifest accomplishment. Whoever has no manifest accomplishment, that is nirvana. By what is that nirvana attained? It is attained by the nirvana of this suffering. For example, from a collection of wood, fire blazes. When the wood is exhausted, the fire dies. Here, nothing else is the fire, but when the wood is exhausted, it dies. Likewise, when actions and afflictions are exhausted, there is nirvana. Here, nothing else is suffering, but that nirvana is attained from the exhaustion of actions and afflictions. Maudgalyayana's son, in the past, from countless cycles of past time, beyond that shore and even further beyond, there was a Tathagata named the Lord of the Three Worlds, until the Buddha, the Bhagavan, appeared in the world. In the Buddha-field of that Tathagata, the Lord of the Three Worlds, there was a Brahmin named Moon Eyebrow, who appeared like a great Sala tree, a reciter who held mantras, who had reached the other shore of the three knowledges, who was skilled in precise articulation, and the five qualities such as clear understanding, who was in accordance with past events, who prophesied with words, and who could throw the world far away.

relatives, the lineage of offerings, and born in accordance with the characteristics of a great man. Satisfied with the three paths of scripture and knowledge from his own teacher, he seeks virtuous Dharma. That Brahmin has reached the other shore known by all, reached the other shore of the lineage of worldly heretics, reached the other shore of all medical treatises, reached the other shore of all treatises on omens, reached the other shore of all treatises on illusion, such as: eye illusions, near eye illusions, weaving, illusions of copper ornaments, illusions of extreme destruction, illusions of bones, illusions of supreme bliss, youthful play, vidyadhara play, the pinnacle of illusions of external assemblies, and countless other treatises on pinnacles, he has no fear. The Brahmin's eyebrows are like a great sala tree. It is heard that the Tathagata, the teacher of the three realms, from the one endowed with knowledge and conduct to the Buddha Bhagavan, appears in the world. There is nothing he does not know, nothing he does not see, nothing he does not comprehend, nothing he does not realize. If that is the case, from my mantra teachings, whoever is a great man endowed with the thirty-two marks of a great man, there are only two possibilities, and no other. If he remains at home, he becomes a universal monarch, a victorious sovereign of the four continents, a righteous king endowed with Dharma, endowed with the seven precious jewels. His seven precious jewels are these: the precious wheel, the precious elephant, the precious horse, the precious jewel, the precious woman, the precious householder, and the precious minister. Moreover, he has a thousand sons who are complete, brave and steadfast, possessing the most excellent limbs and appearance, able to completely destroy the enemy. He dwells alone on this earth with his own Dharma, without punishment or weapons. If he shaves his hair and beard, wears saffron robes, and with faith goes forth from home to homelessness, then he

The transformation occurs from the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, to the Buddha, the Bhagavan. That Bhagavan, the Tathagata, is the teacher of the three realms. I shall examine whether he possesses these thirty-two marks of a great being or not. If I see that he possesses the thirty-two marks of a great being, I shall know him as the Tathagata. Then, the Brahmin Moon-brow, like a great Sala tree, along with sixty Brahmins like great Sala trees, went to where the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the teacher of the three realms, was. Having arrived, they exchanged manifest and joyful words with the Tathagata, the teacher of the three realms, and then sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, the Brahmin Moon-brow, like a great Sala tree, contemplated the thirty-two marks of a great being of the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the teacher of the three realms. The Brahmin Moon-brow, like a great Sala tree, saw the thirty-two marks of a great being of the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the teacher of the three realms. Moon-brow had such recollection of the other two marks of a great being on the body of the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the teacher of the three realms: the concealed genitals like that of a horse, and the long tongue, and so forth. Then, the Tathagata, the teacher of the three realms, knowing the thoughts of the Brahmin Moon-brow, like a great Sala tree, extended his tongue from his mouth and completely licked the edges of his eyes and ears with his tongue, completely touching them. He completely licked the two ear-roots with his tongue, completely licking them. He manifested the marks in such a way that he manifested such marks, and the Brahmin Moon-brow, like a great Sala tree, saw the Bhagavan's body manifesting the concealed genitals like that of a horse. At that time, he had no doubt about the thirty-two marks of a great being of the Tathagata, without hesitation, he rose from his seat, knelt down with his right knee on the ground,
