If you think that the one who became known as Purbalha is someone else, you should not look at it that way. At that time, I became known as King Purbalha. By that root of virtue, I also attained the knowledge of various realms (Sanskrit: dhātu), I also attained the equality of realms, I also attained the knowledge of various realms of all sentient beings, and I also attained little harm. Maudgalyayana's son, therefore, a Bodhisattva-Mahasattva who wishes to attain complete and perfect enlightenment should abide in the knowledge of various realms and examine by what cause and origin one obtains the knowledge of various realms and their arising. Maudgalyayana's son, he attained complete enlightenment through the wisdom of diligence, therefore, this action was manifestly accumulated, and by abandoning this action, this wisdom was perfectly accomplished. With this thought, I subdued with great compassion those suffering sentient beings, whatever afflictions they were afflicted by. Some harmful sentient beings abide in the realm of desire, some abide in the realm of hatred, and some abide in the realm of ignorance, and I was overwhelmed with great compassion. Likewise, by whatever afflictions, with an afflicted mind, that action was manifestly accumulated, and by that realm itself, it was shown that it does not change: some are yellow, some are black, some are red, some have eyes like the bird Chagora, some have eyes like cranes, some are long, some are short, some are medium, and he fully knew those actions as they truly are. Maudgalyayana's son, in the past, immeasurable eons ago, beyond that far shore, there was a prince named Compassionate Prince, who wished to benefit all sentient beings, wished them happiness, accomplishment, and wished them happiness, and possessed skillful means. He thought to himself: What is the cause and condition that causes these sentient beings to appear in various colors, various shapes, various sounds, various virtues, various lineages, various clans, various names? He thought to himself: Those who are born now do not have the wisdom to do it, there is good in the world.

Who among the ascetics and Brahmins can foretell my purpose? Where should I search for the answer? Do not scatter me in ten directions; go yourself and find the answer! Who in the world, whether ascetic, Brahmin, teacher, or teacher's son, can unravel this meaning and dispel my doubts? Then, the father of that youth, the king named Shintugnepa (Shin tu gnas pa, Abiding Deeply), said to the boy: "Young man, do not dwell on the inconceivable, do not indulge in the unfathomable. Young man, with this thinking, you will only cause yourself suffering, and the king will also be disturbed. This inconceivable thing will never be achieved. Young man, why is that? Because there are no answers to these questions. Young man, rejoice in your kingdom! Rejoice in the power that all beings in the world desire! Young man, abandoning meaningful things and contemplating meaningless things will only lead to suffering and weariness." Having said these words, the compassionate youth spoke to King Shintugnepa thus: "Great King, do not ignore the darkness. In your land, there is joy in things such as: beautiful colors and ugly colors; complete limbs and incomplete limbs; handsome forms and ugly forms; noble lineages and ignoble lineages; abundant wealth and poverty; foolishness and intelligence; likewise, those who have mastered various crafts, those who are skilled in crafts, and those who are learning crafts; there are poor people who, through effort, can acquire wealth; there are sick people who, through treatment, can recover from illness. Great King, through these examples, you should understand that if the cause of these things exists, then I will not seek it. Great King, what I do not seek does not mean it does not exist. I will not seek many crafts, and even if there are other crafts, I will not seek what I already know. Great King, the knowledge that I have exists, but I will not seek what I already know. Therefore, I will inquire of those wise, respected, and intelligent ascetics and Brahmins who are revered by all." Having said these words, King Shintugnepa spoke to the compassionate youth
