Abiding in the world, well-revered, the wise are always well-revered, and never go into afflictions. Their view is without sin, and they always practice the holy Dharma with certainty. They show the actions and sins of beings, harms, and those afflictions. By reversing, they show virtue and the teachings, and also show the path to purification and higher realms. They are the ones who fully enter into all sufferings, and everything arises from the cause of birth. Those who do not know how to definitely escape from this, if they desire harmlessness and peace, why do they not go to the world of karma in the afterlife? And why do they not come from the afterlife? Know that the Buddha's teachings are immutable. The results of actions done will not be wasted, and there is no agent or action. There is no attainment of experiencing results. Depending on causes, all phenomena arise. By clinging to non-existence, suffering is fully entered. The victorious ones who have completely passed away in the past, seeing everything like a reflection in water, therefore, see the nature of phenomena as such. Just as the nature of a mirage is non-existent, there is nothing that is separate from existence and non-existence. Just as there is no reality in a dream, just as there is no reality of clouds in water, so too, the nature of all phenomena is non-existent. Just as stars reside in the sky, these other things accumulate the nature of things. Just as people in a drunken dream feel happiness, but when they wake up, it is gone, and the dream is without essence. Just as a person who wakes up at night remembers, and as a person who dreams sees, so too, things and their nature are non-existent. Just as a person who dreams of being very angry, there is no anger in the dreams. Just as the wise do not see harmful thoughts after waking up, so too, things accumulate by their nature. Just as people who drink alcohol in dreams, it is known that they are drunk because they drank alcohol. Just as the substance of alcohol and drunkenness is non-existent, so too, the substance of all phenomena is non-existent. Just as in the dreams of people, after seeing the face of a beautiful woman with ornaments, those who generate desire when dreaming, after waking up, do not see the face of the woman. In that dream, there is no woman, and likewise, desire is like that woman, happy, awake.

That greedy woman, joyful, joyful! As if unseen, the true Dharma is just like that. Whoever is foolish and does not know all kinds of things, he also does not know the harm to sentient beings, the harm to sentient beings arises just like that, and the wise do not generate greed for the Dharma. Thus, the nature of a wise youth is to always understand all dharmas as dreams. Just as one is liberated from the harm of contagious diseases, so too should one speak well to other beings. Son of Maudgalyāyana, if at that time you think that the king who transformed into the youthful Śāntamati is someone else, do not think like that, for I, at that time, was the one who transformed into the youthful Śāntamati. Son of Maudgalyāyana, therefore, I desire wisdom, I desire sentient beings to be liberated from suffering, so I should practice yoga on the wisdom that arises now. Son of Maudgalyāyana, I am diligent in the wisdom that arises now, and because of that, there is no fear, so I do not care about body and life, and by not caring about body and life, I generate roots of virtue. What are the causes and conditions for the realization of the wisdom that arises now? I have served, honored, and inquired of the virtuous śramaṇas and brahmins. Son of Maudgalyāyana, in the past, beyond the shore of immeasurable eons, and even beyond that, in countless eons, this Saha world will be transformed into a world called Jeweled Lotus Adornment, and this Jambudvipa will be transformed into a great continent called Golden Light, which is 60,000 yojanas wide, and also 60,000 yojanas in the water, square, beautifully adorned, extremely pure, and with equal fortune, like the enjoyment of the great northern continent of Uttarakuru. In that great continent of Golden Light, there was a king named Punishment to the Top. At that time, a Tathāgata named Immaculate Eye, who was skilled in the causes of all dharmas and skilled in the conditions of all dharmas, appeared in the world. Then, at that time, many other wandering non-Buddhist practitioners gathered before King Punishment to the Top.

Then, during that time, regarding the knowledge that arises now, what is the cause for its manifest accomplishment? What is the condition? This way of speaking was everywhere. Then, other non-Buddhist practitioners wandered everywhere, and they went to where King Chedapa Thoktu Pepa was, and specifically said this to King Chedapa Thoktu Pepa: Great King, may you be victorious! We pray to the Great King, and if permitted, we will pray. After saying this, King Chedapa Thoktu Pepa said this to those non-Buddhist other practitioners who wandered everywhere: Those with life, ask whatever doubts you have! If you can prophesy, then prophesy! If you cannot, then explain by what means this meaning can be known by those with life. They said: O Good-faced one, what is the cause and what is the condition for the knowledge that arises now to be made manifest? He said: I cannot prophesy this meaning, but the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Complete Buddha, the Immaculate
