Son of the gods, for example, if it is shown that someone is possessed by a spirit, that is not a change in that person, but it is seen as a change in that spirit. Son of the gods, likewise, I am also shown by the blessing of Manjushri. This should not be seen as my personal ability. The son of the gods said: Evil one, you possess the marks of the Buddha's form and sit on the Buddha's lion throne, possessing the Buddha's fearlessness and delighting in teaching the Dharma? The demon said: You see me adorned, but I know that I am bound by a firm bond. The son of the gods said: Evil one, ask forgiveness of the one who has become the youth Manjushri, and then he will let you go. Then, by the blessing of Manjushri, the demon praised the son of the gods and said: Son of the gods, there is no need to ask for forgiveness for those Bodhisattvas, great beings, who have truly entered the Great Vehicle. Why is that? Because they have no conflict and no anger. It is those who quarrel and are angry who need to be asked for forgiveness. The son of the gods said: Evil one, what is the patience of the Bodhisattvas like? The demon said: Son of the gods, the patience of the Bodhisattvas is of twelve kinds. What are the twelve? Namely: the patience of intention that is not artificial, the patience of superior intention with a mind without anger, the patience without deception that does not deceive all sentient beings, the patience of compassion and love that saves the poor and afflicted, the patience of doing as one speaks without turning back, the patience of emptiness that is free from views, the patience of thinking definitively about the Dharma by relying on the nature of the Dharma, the profound patience of no-self, the patience of conformity by following the conduct of noble beings, the patience of correctness by conforming to dependent arising, the patience of protecting all sentient beings without any agreement or disagreement, and the patience of no birth and no arising because of having fully attained patience with the Dharma of non-birth. Son of the gods!

These are the twelve kinds of patience of the Bodhisattvas. The son of the gods said: Evil one, if you are released, will you be happy? The demon said: Son of the gods, I am happy, exceedingly happy. Then, the son of the gods, Good Boundary, said to the one who had become the youth Manjushri: Manjushri, release the evil demon and he will go to his own abode. Then, the one who had become the youth Manjushri said to the demon, evil one, thus: Evil one, by whom are you bound? From what are you freed? The demon said: Manjushri, I do not know by whom I am bound. Manjushri said: Evil one, since you are not bound, how do you perceive yourself to be bound? In the same way, all ordinary people also perceive permanence in impermanence, happiness in suffering, self in no-self, beauty in ugliness, and form in formlessness. And in the absence of feeling, the absence of perception, the absence of formations, and the absence of consciousness, they perceive feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness. Evil one, if you are released, from where will you be released? The demon said: I am not released from anywhere. He said: Evil one, likewise, those who are completely liberated will not be liberated from anything except from the complete understanding of untrue perceptions. The complete understanding of these is called liberation. Then, the one who had become the youth Manjushri withdrew that blessing, and I knew that the evil one also possessed his own form. Then, the venerable Mahakashyapa said to the evil demon thus: Evil one, you have done the work of the Buddha, well done! Well done! The demon said: Venerable Mahakashyapa, this is not my realm, but it should be regarded as the realm of the youth Manjushri. Then, the son of the gods, Good Boundary, said to the one who had become the youth Manjushri thus: Manjushri, where should the work of the Buddha be sought? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, the work of the Buddha should be sought in all the afflictions of sentient beings. Why is that? If sentient beings
