Then, their minds were liberated. Thereupon, the venerable Subhūti said to those monks: "Venerable ones, who has been tamed?" The monks said: "Because there is neither anything to be attained, nor is there perfect enlightenment." Subhūti said: "What is the nature of that taming?" They said: "Because of abiding in suchness, there is neither the slightest leading nor non-leading. Knowing as it abides, there is neither arising nor cessation. Knowing equality, thus we are tamed." When those monks expounded this teaching, twelve hundred sons of the gods developed the pure Dharma eye, free from dust and defilement, towards the dharmas. The venerable Subhūti further said to the evil Māra: "Evil one, how is a monk a worthy recipient of offerings?" Māra said: "Venerable Subhūti, when a monk neither takes nor receives, and also enjoys all faith and joy. Venerable Subhūti, that monk who, towards what is given, has the mind of illusion, and towards what is received, has the mind of deceit, and does not enjoy with a mind of closeness or non-closeness, such a monk is a worthy recipient of offerings." The son of Śāradvatī said: "Evil one, what is the unperturbed samādhi spoken of by the Blessed One?" Māra said: "The bodhisattva's samādhi, relying on which, because of utter exhaustion, exhaustion does not make exhaustion. Because of the unarisen nature, the unarisen does not make unarisen. Not experiencing also does not make experiencing. Knowing that all dharmas are naturally entered into equanimity, and having known, also enters into the samādhi of stopping all feelings, and also sees equally, and even the slightest seeing is not seen, and not seeing is also not seen, this is the unperturbed samādhi spoken of by the Blessed One." Maudgalyāyana's son said: "Evil one, how does a monk obtain mastery over all minds?" Māra said: "Venerable Mahāmaudgalyāyana's son, when a monk knows all dharmas as the characteristic of mind liberation, and also does not cling to the characteristic of liberation, and the mind...

Knowing liberation from (liberation), he neither makes bondage nor makes liberation. Because the mind is formless, he knows all dharmas are formless. Because the mind is without abiding, he sees all dharmas are without abiding. Because the mind is without grasping, he knows all dharmas are without grasping, yet the mind does not know the mind with the mind. The mind knows the self-nature of the Dharmadhatu of all dharmas with its own self-nature, and with the self-nature of the Dharmadhatu, one attains freedom without relying on others, possessing the miraculous power of faith. Such a Bhikshu, the great Maudgalyayana's son, is one who has attained mastery over all minds. Kasyapa asked: "Evil one, how does a Bhikshu purely teach the Dharma?" Mara said: "Venerable Kasyapa, if a Bhikshu, even though he knows all dharmas from others, does not cling to the minds of others or non-others, and also shows that all dharmas are falsely established. He knows all paths of letters, languages, sounds, and sentences are like echoes. He sees all listeners of the Dharma as illusory beings. He sees the expressions of his body as resembling the moon in water. He knows that all afflictions arise from complete discrimination. He does not teach the Dharma for the sake of taking or abandoning certain dharmas, or for the sake of extreme recitation, or for the purpose of attainment. He also attains mastery over the four kinds of separate correct knowledge, and has no expectation of praise. He teaches the Dharma without greed, and because his own mind is pure by nature, he knows that the minds of all sentient beings are pure by nature. After knowing that the mind is pure by nature, he sees the Skandha Mara as solitary, understands the Klesha Mara as a false thought, the Death Mara as unborn, abides in the unborn, is unshaken by the Devaputra Mara, and is free from all arrogance. Such a Bhikshu is one who purely teaches the Dharma." Ananda said: "Evil one, how is a Bhikshu a holder of discipline?" Mara said: "Venerable Ananda, if a Bhikshu knows that all dharmas are extremely gentle, at the beginning of all faults,

Knowing the limit before the mother is also the limit of solitude, and also eliminating the regret of the sins that have occurred, and not being attached to them. By what means can those uninterrupted sins be suppressed? Not to mention the slightest violation of rituals and precepts, one can also approximate such an aspect of Dharma, and be skilled in subduing afflictions. Regarding sudden afflictions, one can also recognize that they are not completely defiled by afflictions, and can perceive their arising. Afflictions are neither inside, nor outside, nor neither. Knowing the true nature of afflictions is the absence of afflictions, neither eliminating afflictions nor creating the absence of afflictions. Knowing all afflictions are like clouds, scattered by the wind of wisdom and insight, with nowhere to go and nowhere to stay. Afflictions are like the moon in the water, the image of false discrimination appearing on the surface. Afflictions are the realm of darkness, the lamp of wisdom can make the invisible visible. Afflictions are like thieves, dakinis, yakshas, rakshasas, if observed with proper attention, there is nowhere to dwell. Afflictions are those who seek opportunities, increasing with improper attention. With the wisdom of emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, one does not allow the mind to engage in them. Who can know afflictions in this way? For sentient beings who are defiled by afflictions, generate compassion, and realize selflessness and the emptiness of sentient beings, this is the true subduer. Thus, all the great Shravakas asked the evil one about their respective wishes, and the evil one also explained the ultimate meaning of all the questions to them one by one, satisfying them. After that, the son of the gods, Suvikrantavikramin, and his retinue gathered together and said to the evil one: Evil one, Manjushri Kumara has already spoken about the demonic deeds of Bodhisattvas, please speak boldly! Evil one, what are the demonic deeds of Bodhisattvas?
