and also wishes to abandon all the afflictions of all sentient beings. The son of the gods said: How does a Bodhisattva know the ritual? Manjushri said: When the wisdom of noble wisdom does not take any Dharma. The son of the gods said: How is a Bodhisattva satisfied? Manjushri said: When one abides in the wisdom that transcends the world, and also causes sentient beings to fully mature through worldly causes. The son of the gods said: How is a Bodhisattva extremely secluded? Manjushri said: When all afflictions cannot make it an affliction, and also when it appears to be striving to abandon the afflictions of all sentient beings. The son of the gods said: How is a Bodhisattva self-joyful and independent? Manjushri said: When an uncontaminated body appears in all Buddha-fields, it is not controlled by the afflictions of the dominion of wisdom. The son of the gods said: How is a Bodhisattva widely learned? Manjushri said: When one also listens to the Dharma that has not been heard, and also causes others to hear the Dharma that has not been heard. The son of the gods said: How does a Bodhisattva strive properly? Manjushri said: When one fully knows that it arises from all objects of perception, but also does not scatter all Dharmas, nor does one not scatter them. The son of the gods said: How does a Bodhisattva take practice as the essence? Manjushri said: When one does not generate discriminating consciousness related to others, and also knows that the mental conduct of all sentient beings is secluded, and also does not observe one's own mental conduct, and does not take practice as the essence with the attachment of self and others. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, how is a Bodhisattva endowed with perfect dharani and eloquence? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, when a Bodhisattva holds all that is heard, and also equally distinguishes the faculties of all sentient beings, and the sound also knows that it is like an echo in a valley, and there is no manifest attachment, then the Bodhisattva is endowed with perfect dharani and eloquence.

So it is. Then, the son of the gods, Light Garland, said this to Manjushri, who had become a youth: "Manjushri, who will fully understand these teachings that you have spoken?" Manjushri said: "Son of the gods, those who are fully embraced by virtuous friends, whose previous practices are perfectly complete, who have generated the roots of virtue, and who practice without any object of focus, they will fully understand these teachings that I have spoken." The son of the gods asked: "What will they be interested in? What is their thought?" Manjushri said: "They will be interested in the profound, and the absence of arrogance is their thought." The son of the gods asked: "Manjushri, how does a monk become free from arrogance?" Manjushri said: "Son of the gods, when a monk cultivates the view of the perishable aggregate as the sole path of entry by its very nature, and through non-duality, knows that the nature of the view of the perishable aggregate is equal to the nature of the sole path of entry, and also seeks the origin arising from ignorance, existence, and craving, and when individually examining what arises from ignorance, existence, and craving, also knows that the nature of ignorance, existence, and craving is wisdom and liberation, then, such a monk is free from arrogance. Son of the gods, furthermore, when a monk knows that the limit of desire is the limit of being free from desire, and also knows that the nature of the limit of being free from desire is also desire; knows that the limit of hatred is the limit of being free from hatred, and also knows that the nature of the limit of being free from hatred is also hatred; knows that the limit of delusion is the limit of being free from delusion, and also knows that the nature of the limit of being free from delusion is also delusion, then, such a monk is free from arrogance. Son of the gods, furthermore, when a monk does not fully know suffering, does not abandon the origin, does not realize cessation, and does not cultivate the path, but understands the four noble truths by knowing that suffering does not arise, and whatever is knowing that suffering does not arise, there is no origin for that; whatever is knowing that suffering does not arise, there is no cessation for that; whatever is knowing that suffering does not arise, there is no path for that.
