Entering and returning from attaining the fruit of a Pratyekabuddha, entering into the faultlessness of a Bodhisattva, Following individual discernment and also having compassion for all sentient beings, this sister is a true offering of Bodhisattva's diligence. Sister, for example, entering the great ocean is easy, but returning with great jewels is difficult. Sister, similarly, individually discerning emptiness is easy, but returning due to lack of skillful means is difficult. It is also easy to individually examine the absence of characteristics, the absence of aspirations, the absence of fabrication, the absence of birth, the absence of arising, the faultlessness of a Hearer, and the faultlessness of a Pratyekabuddha, but returning due to lack of skillful means is difficult. Sister, for example, entering a great battle is easy, but overcoming it without being harmed is difficult. Sister, similarly, entering the three doors of liberation is also easy, but returning due to lack of skillful means is difficult. The daughter asked: Manjushri, what is meant by "skillful means"? Manjushri replied: Sister, what is called "skillful means" is not abandoning two aspects, namely the aspect of samsara and the aspect of nirvana. Sister, what is called "skillful means" is what shows two doors, namely the door of samsara and the door of nirvana, the door of emptiness and the door of complete liberation from views, the door of the absence of characteristics and the door of liberation from characteristics, the door of the absence of aspirations and the door of intentional birth, the door of the absence of fabrication and the door of manifesting virtue, the door of the absence of birth and the door of universally showing birth, the door of the absence of arising and the door of aggregates, elements, and sources, the door of no birth and no cessation, and the door of birth and arising, the door of solitude and the door of completely ripening sentient beings, the door of the Dharmadhatu and the door of individually protecting all dharmas, the door of the Hearer's Vehicle and the door of the Bodhisattva's superior intention, the door of self-awakening and the door of not forgetting the Buddha's teachings.

door. Sister, if a Bodhisattva can show these two doors, but is not attached to any door, that is called skillful means. Similarly, the door of desire and the door of detachment from desire, the door of anger and the door of detachment from anger, the door of ignorance and the door of detachment from ignorance, the door of affliction and the door of detachment from affliction, the door of all beings and the door of no beings. Sister, this is the skillful means of a Bodhisattva. To know the door of conduct of all ordinary beings, as well as the conduct of those in training, those beyond training, Hearers, Solitary Buddhas, and Bodhisattvas, this is called the skillful means of a Bodhisattva. End of the Second Volume. Again, at that time, the Blessed One was dwelling on a medicinal slope on the side of Vulture Peak Mountain (present-day Rajgir, Bihar, India), walking slowly after a long journey with the attendant Venerable Ananda. Having dwelt there, the Blessed One said to Manjushri, who had become a youth: Manjushri, the diligence, excellent qualities, and skillful means of the Bodhisattva that you have shown are indeed so. Well done! Well done! The Blessed One bestowed the words "Well done! Well done!", and the sound of "Well done!" resounded throughout the three-thousand great-thousand world system. This sound of "Well done!" caused the three-thousand great-thousand world system to shake in six ways. Gods, Nagas, Yakshas, Gandharvas, Asuras, Garudas, Kinnaras, Mahoragas, humans and non-humans, as well as Indra, Brahma, and many world-protecting deities, were all inspired by the sound of "Well done!" and went to where the Blessed One was, bowed their heads at the feet of the Blessed One, and sat down on one side. Having sat down on one side, the gods, Nagas, Yakshas, Gandharvas, Asuras, Garudas, Kinnaras, Mahoragas, humans and non-humans, as well as Indra, Brahma,

Those protectors of the world then said to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, to whom did the Bhagavan bestow the sound of 'Excellent!' which made the realm of the great three-thousandfold world system known by its sound?" The Bhagavan replied: "Sons of the gods, that was to Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta." The sons of the gods asked: "Bhagavan, where is Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta now?" The Bhagavan replied: "Sons of the gods, Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta is at the eastern gate of the great city of Rajagriha, together with a courtesan's daughter named Golden Pinnacle Radiance, speaking Dharma-laden words and abiding there. Sons of the gods, those who wish to hear the Dharma, go there now." Then the gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, mahoragas, humans and non-humans, Indra, Brahma, and those protectors of the world all gathered together and went to where Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta was, and having manifested gross bodies, they rained down a great rain of flowers, and that rain of flowers scattered flowers all around Rajagriha. Then the gods also saw the humans, and the humans also saw the gods, but they did not speak to each other. Thus, from the great city of Rajagriha, hundreds of thousands of many sentient beings were also urged on by those flowers, and also urged on by those gross bodies of the gods, and went to where Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta was. King Ajatashatru, also surrounded by a multitude of women, together with the fourfold assembly of the army, with the great wealth of the king and the great power of the king, went to where Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta was, and that retinue, King Ajatashatru, the sons of the king and ministers, the sons of merchants and householders, saw that courtesan's daughter Golden Pinnacle Radiance, free from the arising of afflictions of desire, her senses and conduct were extremely peaceful, her senses were not distracted, she had a sense of shame, and was excellent with splendor.
