Generated the mind of enlightenment. Sixty gods and humans obtained the Dharma eye, free from dust and impurities, and were completely purified in all dharmas. The prostitute's daughter, Golden Top Light, was also satisfied and pleased, extremely joyful, and generated joy and peace of mind. She prostrated with five limbs, touched the feet of Manjushri, who had become a youth, and took refuge in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. She properly took the foundation of pure conduct and learning, and with a superior intention, generated the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, and spoke as follows: Manjushri, I, too, as you have taught, for the sake of benefiting all sentient beings, with compassion, not cutting off the lineage of the Buddha, not cutting off the lineage of the Dharma, and not cutting off the lineage of the Sangha, as you have taught, will generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Likewise, for the sake of realizing the Dharma, I will also teach the Dharma to all sentient beings. For the sake of completely purifying the obscurations of negative actions, I will confess faults as faults. Wherever all dharmas are not realized as peaceful and nearly peaceful, with improper attention as a guide, being driven by perversion, and with attachment to one's own body, sentient beings who possess the practice of desire have not realized the nature of dharmas. Manjushri, although it is so, nevertheless, those sentient beings who possess the practice of desire also possess the same Dharma nature of dharmas. Bodhisattvas study this possessing Dharma and generate the mind of unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Why is that? Manjushri, how do afflictions exist? They do not truly exist, they arise from conceptualization. Thus, if one can completely understand conceptualization, it will cease, therefore it is like accumulation. Manjushri, as you have said, as I understand it, afflictions have no self-nature and no arising, therefore they are like a cloud. Afflictions are destroyed and dissolve in an instant.

Like a water bubble. The afflictions are extremely unmanifest, like the wind. The afflictions are completely beyond all objects, like a picture in the sky. The afflictions are not long-lasting, like a picture on water. The afflictions arise from the activity of improper attention, like yakshas and ghosts. The afflictions arise from seeing things upside down in the absence of existence, like a mirage. The afflictions arise from conceptualization and are unreal. The afflictions are particularly related to attachment due to self-grasping. The afflictions are the complete grasping of things due to grasping as mine. The afflictions arise suddenly due to wrong generation. The afflictions arise from conceptual thought and are like following after signs. The afflictions arise from not examining the various elements and are not individually considered. The afflictions arise in accordance with the mind and are not definitely thought about. The afflictions arise from obvious attachment to oneself and others and should not be trusted. The afflictions are the aggregates that are taken. The afflictions are the complete grasping of the elements. The afflictions are the sense bases and so on. The afflictions are the differentiation of name and form. The afflictions do not understand improper attention and so on. Manjushri, although it is like that, the afflictions are the foundation of the stake of enlightenment. Why is that? Because enlightenment is unwavering. The afflictions are the seeds of enlightenment, and the realization of afflictions themselves is enlightenment. The afflictions are the foundation of the vajra of enlightenment. Why is that? Because, with the nature of the indivisibility of the realm of reality, enlightenment cannot be divided by the afflictions. Manjushri, seeing the afflictions is enlightenment, and enlightenment follows after all objects. Manjushri, just as enlightenment does not abide separately, so do the afflictions.

Moreover, these do not abide either, for having arisen, they disintegrate and dissipate, so they do not abide. Mañjuśrī, the afflictions are the nature of the mind. Why is that? Mañjuśrī, this mind is attachment, hatred, or delusion; the nature of the mind cannot be shown. Mañjuśrī, just as the mind cannot be shown, so too, the afflictions abide in objects or abide in locations; the nature of the afflictions cannot be shown. Mañjuśrī, how a bodhisattva mahāsattva thoroughly understands those afflictions, in that way, he does not tire of completely ripening those beings who are attached to desire. He does not tire of those who are attached to hatred; he does not tire of those who are attached to delusion; he does not tire of completely ripening those beings who act with equanimity. Mañjuśrī, just as I am now attached, so too, I observe the attachment of all those who are attached to desire. Mañjuśrī, just as I am now hateful, so too, I observe the hatred of all those who are attached to hatred. Mañjuśrī, just as I am now deluded, so too, I observe the delusion of all those who are attached to delusion. Mañjuśrī, just as I now have all the afflictions, so too, I observe the afflictions of all beings who are attached to all the afflictions. Mañjuśrī, for example, fire is not destroyed by all the grass and trees. Mañjuśrī, likewise, the fire of noble wisdom is not destroyed by all the grass and trees of the afflictions. Mañjuśrī, for example, the orb of the sun does not coexist with all darkness and gloom. Mañjuśrī, likewise, noble wisdom does not coexist with all the afflictions. Mañjuśrī, for example, the wind does not cling to all the trees and mountains. Mañjuśrī, likewise, a bodhisattva who acts with noble wisdom does not cling to all the objects of the afflictions. Mañjuśrī, for example, the element of space is not burned by all the fires at the end of an eon. Mañjuśrī, that way,
