was seen adorned. Having seen her, no one had any thoughts of desire for her. Then, Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta, knowing that a great crowd of people had gathered, said this to the prostitute Gold Top Radiance: Daughter, although all these great crowds of people see you, they do not become attached to you. Where have you placed those afflictions? The daughter said: Mañjuśrī, the afflictions of all sentient beings abide in wisdom and liberation, and abide in the realm of dharma. I understand them to be unborn, unstopped, and unchanged. I also understand what the nature of afflictions is. Mañjuśrī said: Daughter, what is the nature of afflictions? The daughter said: Mañjuśrī, the nature of no thought and no discrimination is the nature of afflictions. The nature of unwholesome and unborn is the nature of afflictions. Afflictions are adventitious and do not abide together with the realization of emptiness. They do not abide together with the knowledge of signlessness and wishlessness. They do not abide together with self-luminous nature. Mañjuśrī, for example, a poisonous snake with venom can kill a person just by looking at them. But if someone finds a medicine called "Harm Remover" that can destroy all poisons and completely pacify all poisons, as soon as that medicine is shown, the venom of the poisonous snake disappears, and children play with it lovingly. Those children play with the poisonous snake, hold it in their arms, hang it around their necks like a garland, and use it as an ornament, but it does not bite, does not eat, and does not cause suffering. Mañjuśrī, similarly, I, too, having not heard the Dharma before, was burned by afflictions arising from unwholesome thoughts and inverted perceptions, clinging to my own body with desire and being attached to my own form. I do not perceive form as a bubble, and I do not perceive the body as the nature of illusion.

Do not crave. Do not crave joyful games as if they were dreams. Do not crave tasting the pleasure of desire, as if it were a drop of honey. Do not crave the power of life, as if it were a drop of dew. Do not crave that all conditioned things are impermanent. Do not crave that the body is impure. Do not crave that all conditioned things are extremely painful, and do not separately contemplate that all dharmas are without self, because I am also obscured by darkness. I also cause others to be in darkness. I am also bound, and I also bind others. Manjushri, when did I hear from you the teachings endowed with Dharma? Having heard, I also developed faith, and having developed faith, I was also liberated, and for that reason, I will not look at anyone with eyes of attachment from now on. Why is that? Manjushri, light and darkness do not coexist. Manjushri, similarly, being free from desire is for the sake of anyone not being attached to afflictions. Then, the daughter of the prostitute, Golden Supreme Light, said this to the youthful Manjushri: Alas, Manjushri, the retinue of gods and the great retinue of humans are gathered here. Could you please speak the Dharma teachings in such a way that these gods and humans realize the nature of afflictions and, with compassion for sentient beings, generate the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment? Manjushri said: Sister, it is difficult to have faith in the nature of afflictions. Why is that? Sister, the nature of afflictions is the reason for enlightenment. Sister, this is like an example: fire that is not lit is not the nature of burning. Sister, similarly, if afflictions are not fully examined, they are not the nature of samsara. Sister, this is like an example: fire that is lit is the nature of burning. Sister, similarly, if afflictions are fully examined, they are the nature of samsara. Sister, this is like an example: fire burns if there is a cause. Sister, similarly, if afflictions have the cause of arising from views, they will burn in the three realms. Sister, this is like an example: fire does not burn if there is no cause. Sister, similarly, afflictions
