Also, the sons, the teaching is also for the sake of being free from all jealousy and pride. Manjushri asked: Daughter, how does a Bodhisattva fully ripen sentient beings? The daughter replied: Manjushri, the Bodhisattva fully ripens sentient beings by fully cultivating wisdom and means. Manjushri asked: Daughter, how does a Bodhisattva abide among all sentient beings? The daughter replied: Manjushri, by fully cultivating one's own mind and wisdom, the Bodhisattva abides among all sentient beings. Manjushri asked: Daughter, this retinue wishes to hear the Dharma from you. The daughter replied: Manjushri, wherever the perception of self and other arises, that is not what should be heard. Also, wherever the consciousness of the ear distinguishes things, that is not what should be heard. Manjushri asked: Daughter, what is meant by wishing to hear the Dharma? The daughter replied: Manjushri, when one regards one's own body as a person in a dream, regards the one who teaches the Dharma as a person of illusion, and believes that the Dharma being taught is like the sound of an echo in a valley, and does not make a distinction of duality in liberation, then that is how one should listen to the Dharma. Manjushri asked: Daughter, how should one listen to the Dharma? The daughter replied: By being diligent towards the Dharma and the teacher, one listens to the Dharma. Then, through the blessing of Manjushri, who had become a youth, and through the wisdom of accumulating roots of virtue, when the prostitute Golden Top Radiance taught the Dharma in this way, twelve thousand beings in that retinue generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment. Five hundred gods and humans of the Bodhisattva Vehicle, who had previously accumulated roots of virtue, obtained forbearance in the Dharma of non-arising. Thirty-two thousand beings obtained the Dharma eye, which is without dust, without stain, and completely pure, in all dharmas. That daughter also obtained forbearance in accordance with all dharmas through the joy of hearing the Dharma and through supreme joy. Having obtained forbearance, she touched the feet of Manjushri, who had become a youth, and said: Manjushri, for the sake of your compassion, I completely

Please allow me to be ordained. Please liberate me from this body that is not born according to the Dharma, is not a noble being, and causes me to fall away from the Dharma of the noble beings. Thus she requested ordination. Manjushri said: Sister, know this: Shaving the head is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Why is that? Because, if a woman strives to cut off the afflictions of all sentient beings, that is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. If a woman wears monastic robes, that is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. If a woman herself takes vows and pure precepts, and also establishes sentient beings with broken precepts in the discipline and asceticism of the precepts, that is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. If a woman herself dwells in solitude, that is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. If a woman establishes sentient beings who wander in the cycle of the five realms in the knowledge of solitude, that is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. The marks of color and form and the manner of conduct are not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. If one generates a mind of love and compassion towards other sentient beings and individuals, that is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Generating one's own roots of virtue is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Generating the roots of virtue of other sentient beings is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Respecting the superior intention of one's own complete nirvana is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Respecting the superior intention of turning other sentient beings back from nirvana is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Pacifying one's own afflictions is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Pacifying the afflictions of all sentient beings is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Guarding one's own mind is not the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Guarding the minds of all sentient beings is the ordination of a Bodhisattva. Striving for one's own liberation
