Through the blessings of becoming youthful, these verses arose from all the trees in that garden. The entire world is not real, Just like seeing an illusion. As the young boy saw, That is the nature of all phenomena. That which is smeared with flesh and blood, Is what deludes children. By discriminating on what is not real, The unwise child becomes attached. Just like an unwise person, With a pot of foul urine, With a picture painted on the outside, Carrying it on their head and walking. That person's, It fell from that and broke, Seeing the foul urine, Like fleeing without attachment. Likewise, the unwise child, Is attached to women, To colors, shapes, and forms, They discriminate and become attached to them. What is the nature of the body, Young man, you should understand it well. To the rotting smell in the cemetery, Which wise person would become attached? To what is not real, with fearlessness, You should not be afraid, Look at the nature of the phenomena, That you were previously frightened of. The one who teaches the sacred Dharma, The one who removes fear and dread, The one called Shakya Simha, The teacher has truly appeared. Desire is impermanent and unstable, Like the light of lightning, Although it appears, it is not real, The wise do not become attached to it. Just as from agitated water, The accumulated foam arises, It is also born from the combination of causes, There is no maker of it. Likewise, names and forms, Are also born from the combination of karma, Because they arise from causes, Therefore, there is no maker. Where has the beautiful color gone, What makes you afraid here? From where does the impurity come? Young man, you should see it directly. Phenomena do not abide in a place, They do not come from any direction. Without coming and without going, But they reveal their nature. There is no maker of this, There is also no feeler of this. Without a maker and without a feeler, Phenomena are like illusions, without substance. Realize your own body, Because it is also like this, Young man, do not be afraid here, Because of the body of another. Just like dreaming a dream

Just as one plays and rejoices, all such joyful play is like playing in a dream. Before the Shakya Lion (Shakyamuni Buddha), child, go forth. He will cause you, child, to fear and be afraid, uprooting you completely. Your parents are not your refuge, nor are your friends and relatives. They will abandon you and go as they please. When fearful, he eliminates fear, and when without refuge, the Buddha who protects, as well as the Dharma and the Sangha, the supreme assembly, there, go for refuge. Among gods, gandharvas, and humans, whoever goes for refuge to him will be liberated from all fears, and it will not be difficult to find happiness. Then, the merchant's son, having heard those verses, rejoiced and was delighted, freed from fear and dread, joy and supreme joy arose, and abandoning the decaying corpse, he emerged from that forest. Then, the Bhagavan, in order to tame the merchant's son, emitted a great radiance from his body, and that radiance illuminated the entire land of Magadha. The boy saw from afar the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened Buddha, like the rising orb of the sun, blazing with glory and splendor, beautiful and delightful, his senses calmed, his mind pacified, tamed, incomparable, having attained the supreme holiness, manifestly blazing like a golden stupa, his senses subdued and guarded like an elephant, clear and bright like the ocean, without turbidity, adorned with the thirty-two marks of a great being, surrounded by a gathering of hearers, teaching the Dharma and abiding. The path there was smooth, beautiful to behold, adorned with precious railings, and strewn with flowers. The lord of the gods, Indra, also stood before the boy and said to him: Boy, your mind has become very clear upon seeing the Tathagata, this is a well-obtained gain. The Tathagata is also mindful of you. Boy, embark on this path and go before the Tathagata. Then, the boy, together with the lord of the gods, Indra
