Then, with unflagging diligence, the Able One, endowed with supreme meditation, clairvoyance, wisdom, and insight, with complete intention and free from disease, I request you to turn the supreme wheel of Dharma. Monks, after that, as soon as the Bodhisattva Mahasattva generates the mind [of enlightenment], it is called the turning of the wheel of Dharma. At that time, the wheel of Dharma is made of gold from the Jambu River of the gods, adorned with all kinds of jewels, beautified with all kinds of jewels, adorned with various ornaments, with a structure possessing a thousand spokes, possessing a thousand rays of light, possessing a hub, possessing a rim, possessing garlands of flowers, possessing a golden net, possessing tinkling bells, possessing fragrant patterns, possessing a full vase, possessing a swastika, possessing auspicious decorations, beautified with various colors of divine garments, anointed with divine flowers, incense, garlands, and perfumes, possessing all supreme aspects, accomplished by previous aspirations, purified by the Bodhisattva's intention, worthy of being offered to the Tathagata, contemplated by all the Tathagatas, unshaken by the blessings of all the Buddhas, enjoyed by the previous Tathagatas, Arhats, perfectly enlightened Buddhas, and also previously turned. For the sake of turning the wheel of Dharma, it is offered to the Tathagata. Having offered it, with palms joined, they praised the Tathagata with these verses: "Lion among humans, lion, you will become a Buddha," When Dipamkara Buddha prophesied the purification of sentient beings, At that time, I made such a prayer: "After attaining perfect enlightenment, I will urge you to teach the Dharma." From the ten directions, whatever noble sentient beings come here, All of them, because of entering, cannot be counted, Bowing and joining palms, touching both feet with my head, For the sake of turning the wheel of Dharma, I urge the Shakya clan to rejoice. Whatever adornments were made by the gods at the Bodhi tree, And whatever adornments were made by all the sons of the Victorious Ones, All those resources, the wheel of Dharma

For the sake of circumambulation, it is arranged here, even if all the eons are spoken of, it will not be enough. The sky of the three thousand worlds is filled with assemblies of gods. Even the surface of the earth is filled with asuras, non-humans, and humans. Even the sound of spitting was not heard for a moment, all with extremely joyful minds gazed upon the king. Monks, thus the Tathagata concludes the upper part of the night by not speaking. In the middle of the night, he speaks of the words that truly arise. In the lower part of the night, he calls out to the five good groups and speaks thus: Monks, these two extremes are not to be practiced by those who have gone forth. That is, indulging in the enjoyment of desires, base, vulgar, common, useless to the noble ones, harmful, unable to practice pure conduct in the next life, unable to be disgusted, unable to be free from desire, unable to cease, unable to realize, unable to achieve perfect enlightenment, unable to attain nirvana. And any path that is not the middle way, causing the body to be weary, painful, harmful, painful in this life, and also experiencing the result of suffering in the next life. Monks, abandoning these two extremes, the Tathagata teaches the Dharma by the middle way, namely: right view, right thought, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, right concentration. Monks, these four are the noble truths, what are the four? Namely, suffering, the origin of suffering, the cessation of suffering, and the path to the cessation of suffering. What is suffering? It is the suffering of birth, the suffering of aging, the suffering of sickness, the suffering of death, encountering the unpleasant, the suffering of separation from the beloved, and also the suffering of not obtaining what is desired. In short, the five aggregates of grasping are suffering, this is called suffering. What is the origin of suffering? It is

This is the craving for becoming, accompanied by delight and attachment, and taking delight in this and that. This is called the origin of suffering. Then, what is the cessation of suffering? Whatever craving for becoming, accompanied by delight and attachment, and taking delight in this and that, and the production and accomplishment, for this itself, the complete absence and cessation of all desire, this is the cessation of suffering. Then, what is the path leading to the cessation of suffering? It is this noble eightfold path. That is, from right view to right concentration. This is the path leading to the cessation of suffering, called the Noble Truth. Monks, these four are called the Noble Truths. Monks, for me, regarding these things unheard of before, 'This is suffering,' by properly directing the mind and practicing it repeatedly, wisdom arose, the eye arose, knowledge arose, much knowing arose, tranquility arose, wisdom arose, and light appeared.
