The son of King Erna is like a foolish mute. These are the six perfections that do not belong to action. What are the six perfections of arrogance? Any giving that is not connected with dedication is the perfection of arrogant giving. Any self-discipline that is endowed with morality and dedicated to enlightenment is the perfection of arrogant morality. Any patience that is endowed with pride is the perfection of arrogant patience. Any effort that is widely developed is the perfection of arrogant effort. Any meditation that is meditated upon and abandoned is the perfection of arrogant meditation. Any self-nature of hearing that is dedicated to enlightenment is the perfection of arrogant wisdom. These are the six perfections of arrogance. Where should one look for them? From listening to the Dharma. What are the six perfections of initiation? Any complete abandonment without regard for all things, such as completely throwing one's body into the ocean for the benefit of sentient beings, is the perfection of initiated giving. Any nature of morality that abandons views and recklessness is the perfection of initiated morality. Even if one's head is cut off, one does not waver, which is the perfection of initiated patience. Overpowering all things, any initiation, such as striving to dry up the great ocean, is the perfection of initiated effort. Even if one dwells among a retinue of consorts, one does not waste the four meditations, which is the perfection of initiated meditation. Any wisdom that is endowed with seeing all conditioned phenomena as illusory, and that is endowed with profound unobtainability, without ignorance, is the perfection of initiated wisdom. These are the six perfections of initiation. These should be observed from the four legs of miraculous power. What are the six perfections of virtue? Any giving that destroys the connection of habitual tendencies is virtue.

That is the perfection of generosity of goodness. To abide in completely abandoning everything for the sake of excellent discipline, to tame carelessness, and to abide in the discipline that eliminates bad destinies, that is the perfection of discipline of goodness. To be patient with everything and to have no dispute with virtuous Dharma, that is the perfection of patience of goodness. To have unflagging diligence in all that needs to be done, that is the perfection of diligence of goodness. The nature of meditation, entering into the state of equality, abiding as one thinks in order to tame the mind, that is the perfection of meditation of goodness. For example, a great king who wants to see beautiful things transcends thoughts of desire, thoughts of harm, and thoughts of injury. The wisdom that does not abide in anything, that is the perfection of wisdom of goodness. That should also be viewed from great compassion. These are the six perfections of goodness. What are the six perfections that are distinguished by sharpness? The generosity that abides in non-objectification, that is the perfection of generosity of sharpness. The perfection of discipline without arrogance and without concealing things, that is the perfection of discipline of sharpness. To patiently endure all dharmas as they are, and to arise without perversion, that is the perfection of patience of sharpness. To abide without turning back from what is believed, that is the perfection of diligence of sharpness. The perfection of meditation that is completely grasped by the perfection of wisdom, that is the perfection of meditation of sharpness. When one becomes a Bodhisattva, one knows all the perfections of the Hearers completely, and one also knows all the perfections of the Solitary Buddhas completely, but one is not free from desire, nor is one an ordinary being, nor is one a field of generosity, and one does not cling to birth by aspiration, that is the perfection of wisdom of sharpness.
