The Noble Great Vehicle Sutra called "The Fortunate Aeon". The Noble Great Vehicle Sutra called "The Fortunate Aeon". In Indian language: Ārya Bhadrakalpika Nāma Mahāyāna Sūtra. In Tibetan language: The Noble Great Vehicle Sutra called "The Fortunate Aeon". Volume 1. Homage to all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas! Thus have I heard at one time. The Bhagavan was dwelling in Shravasti, having entered the summer retreat. After three summer months had passed, he made the Dharma robes. Having made the Dharma robes, he put on the Dharma robes, and carrying the alms bowl, he went to the city of Vaishali. He went together with a hundred thousand monks, and also with eighty kotis nayutas of Bodhisattvas. Having arrived, he entered the great grove, and arose from absorption. The Bodhisattva, King of Supreme Joy, also entered into absorption. Having arisen from absorption, he sat on the seat that was laid out, together with the retinue of monks, the retinue of nuns, the retinue of laymen, the retinue of laywomen, gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, kinnaras, and mahoragas. Those Bodhisattvas also obtained light, obtained dharani, obtained samadhi, possessed the five superknowledges, were worthy to receive words, were without pretense, were free from the gain of knowledge and attachment, taught the Dharma without confusion, had reached the other shore of patience with the profound Dharma, had obtained fearlessness, had completely transcended the works of Mara, had purified karmic obscurations, had obtained freedom from doubt about the nature of Dharma, had accumulated extremely vast aspirations for countless aeons, had smiling faces, spoke honestly, had no frowns, spoke in metrical verses, were not overwhelmed in mind, had uninterrupted courage, had obtained patience with equality, overwhelmed limitless retinues and obtained fearlessness, were skilled in explaining countless aeons with a single word, believed that all dharmas were like illusions, mirages, moon in water, dreams, and echoes, had immeasurable fearless wisdom, and knew the minds of sentient beings.

Then, the Bodhisattva King Supreme Joy, having fasted for seven days and nights, walking, standing, and sitting, without clearing his throat and without sleeping, became manifestly diligent. Then, the Bodhisattva King Supreme Joy said this to the Blessed One: "By perfecting which dharma does a Bodhisattva become able to know the thoughts and behaviors of all sentient beings? And to enter into the intentional commands of the Buddhas? And to not teach perversely? And to follow the knowledge of truth as it is in accordance with sound? And to be without obscuration to all present Buddhas? And like this, to obtain companionship with the Buddhas and to see them? And to obtain certainty through the Dharma? And even while engaging in worldly dharmas, to not be stained by worldly beings? And even while abiding in meditative absorption, to not be born there? And even while engaging in the dharma of nirvana, to not completely pass into nirvana? And without having completely fulfilled the aspirations of the Buddhas, even while engaging in the dharma of Hearers and Solitary Realizers, to not be determined by those vehicles? And when recollecting the Buddha, to have no defilement in the mind? And even while entering into various realms, to also enter after all of them? And to not be overwhelmed by the thought of supplication and fearlessness? And to perfectly grasp the limitless array of Buddha-fields and to obtain complete wisdom? And while completely ripening sentient beings, to also not abide in the perception of sentient beings? And to also teach the Dharma, but also not abide in an object of focus? And to also speak of nirvana, but also not perceive any pacification? And to also engage for the sake of enlightenment, but also not abide in engagement? And having completely abandoned existence and non-existence, to also be inclined towards the vast? Blessed One, I should not ask if I have not understood, but please, Blessed One, teach me." Then, the Bodhisattva King Supreme Joy at that time spoke these verses: Gods, humans, yakshas, gandharvas,
