That which is called "The Sound of Various Transformations" became the Tathagata called "Great Eye." Having heard this samadhi, that king's son purified all the karmic obscurations accumulated over seventy hundred thousand kotis of kalpas. Moreover, in all his lives, he was never separated from the chapter on discrimination and the dharani accomplished through limitless doors, not even from the sound of a small rattle in his youth. Furthermore, there arose a Tathagata named "Face Clear Moon Stainless Glorious Essence Radiance." He taught and explained this samadhi to him. Then, a merchant's son named Greatly Adorned Good Heart, having heard it from him, went forth from home to homelessness. He abandoned seventy wives, four great treasures with a circumference of one yojana, and one hundred and fourteen gardens, and he never set foot on ground covered with cloth. After he went forth, for ten thousand years, except for excrement, urine, and sweeping, he never sat or lay down, nor did he wear shoes. He was free from drowsiness and sleep, and he diligently devoted himself to walking. After those ten thousand years had passed, he obtained the dharani called "Gathering All the Buddha's Words, Definitive Meanings, and Sounds," and the samadhi called "Understanding Entrance into All Sounds." At that time, six hundred thousand gods were also diligent in serving and honoring him. When he was cultivating body and mind to the utmost perfection, in the southern direction, in a world called Adorned with All Qualities, there is a Tathagata named Delightful, who is now awakening to perfect enlightenment. Noble Bhadrakalpika Sutra, Mahayana Sutra, Volume Two. Then, the Bhagavan spoke these verses at that time: For example, as many as the sands of the Ganges, remembering limitless kalpas, whenever one is called "Voice of Courage," a protector of the world appears. In his teachings, there will be a monk skilled in upholding the Dharma, who speaks of this samadhi. The king's son, having heard it, also put on his clothes, and after dedicating them, saw that protector Buddha.

Immeasurable Life Buddha attains enlightenment. Whatever deeds were done in the past, The ripening of their results, By hearing this collection of wisdom, All without exception are exhausted. Furthermore, the stainless Buddha spoke, When explaining the samadhi, The merchant's son, having heard it, Abandoned his home and became determined to renounce, Without sleep or desire, And without wearing shoes, For ten thousand years, He practiced samadhi. In the moment of merely hearing this, The supreme enlightenment will be attained, No longer delighting in fields, homes, wealth, desires, And enjoyments. The Infinite Buddha, having seen him, Fully declared to all, That by establishing all these methods, One will quickly realize them. This method for practicing samadhi, Is called "acting in accordance with one's mind." Accomplishing all wishes completely, That enlightenment will be quickly attained. In the future times that will arise, Even if one hears this wisdom seal, There will be no wealth and no happiness, And no desire to become ordained. They will rebuke and scold each other, Threaten and revile, Even though they proclaim various evil deeds, They will still say, "I will become a Buddha." There are thousands of sufferings in the home, They endure them because of the cause of desire, Looking upon afflictions as servants, They still say, "I will become a Buddha." In their dreams, they see the Buddha, And then exhale a long breath, Arising with manifest pride, they say, "I have no doubt about attaining enlightenment." Not for the sake of others, But merely by hearing the sound of this sutra, They exhale a long breath, "I will quickly attain great enlightenment." Even though they hear this true method as it is, And uphold and listen to it properly, They are without attachment and without clinging, Like the wind in space. Among the many sentient beings here, Some, for the sake of enlightenment, become ordained, But from the basis of mutual knowledge and competition, They generate many faults. Extremely poor and with inferior wisdom, Proud with just a little hearing, They become arrogant and despise others, Thinking, "I have attained the ultimate awakening." Finding relics and seeing light, They make a fuss by offering to the Buddhas, Thinking they know they have attained enlightenment, They marvel at just a little merit. Enlightenment is truly very distant.
