Furthermore, the complete purification of a Bodhisattva's practice of the perfection of patience is to patiently endure the absence of self in all sentient beings and to patiently endure the emptiness of all phenomena. Whoever cannot patiently endure all phenomena, their patience is completely pure. Why is that? Because, in ultimate reality, there is no phenomenon that can be patiently endured or cannot be patiently endured. Whoever does not accept all phenomena, their patience is completely pure; for those who accept phenomena, there is no patience that is completely pure. Whoever has no fear of all phenomena, their patience is completely pure; for those who have fear, there is no patience that is completely pure. Whoever does not grasp all phenomena, their patience is completely pure; grasping is not patience that is completely pure. Whoever has no self, no sentient beings, and no phenomena, their patience is completely pure; abiding in self, sentient beings, and phenomena is not patience that is completely pure. Noble son, furthermore, there are two kinds of complete purification of a Bodhisattva's practice of the perfection of patience. What are the two? They are the complete purification of the patience of bodily transformation and the complete purification of patiently enduring all phenomena as they are. These are the two. Noble son, this is the complete purification of the practice of the practice of the Bodhisattva's perfection of patience. Noble son, what is the complete purification of the practice of the Bodhisattva's perfection of diligence? It is not abandoning the mind of enlightenment, having no fear of what is necessary and unnecessary, being diligent without weariness, not belittling roots of virtue, not turning back from these perfections, striving to completely seek all phenomena, striving to teach all phenomena, delighting in completely upholding all phenomena, being liberated from great offerings and generosity, not being weary of completely maturing sentient beings, purifying Buddha-fields, greatly transcending the Lesser Vehicle, completely fulfilling previous vows, the collection of generosity, discipline, and learning, not wasting previously accumulated merit, and without arrogance, serving all sentient beings with reverence. This is called the perfection of diligence.

What is complete purification? It is knowing the body as the eye and its image, knowing speech as unspeakable, knowing the mind as very near to peace, knowing exhaustion as consciousness, knowing exhaustion as wisdom, and knowing non-arising as definite understanding. He strives to be liberated from the three authors of action. What are the three? They are the author of abiding, the author of object, and the author of complete conceptualization. These are the three. He strives to be unattached to the three attachments. What are the three? They are non-attachment to the eye, form, and eye-consciousness; non-attachment to the ear, sound, and ear-consciousness; non-attachment to the nose, smell, and nose-consciousness; non-attachment to the tongue, taste, and tongue-consciousness; non-attachment to the body, touch, and body-consciousness; and non-attachment to the mind, dharma, and mind-consciousness. He possesses the diligence of not taking and not abandoning, therefore he does not take giving, does not abandon miserliness, does not take morality, does not abandon immoral morality, does not take patience, does not take patience, does not abandon hatred, does not take diligence, does not abandon laziness, does not take meditation, does not abandon distraction, does not take wisdom, does not abandon immoral wisdom, does not take virtue and does not abandon non-virtue, does not take the enlightenment of the Buddha, and does not abandon the enlightenment of the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Because he neither takes nor abandons, he becomes endowed with the diligence of two complete purifications. What are the two? They are that from the arising within, the object arises accordingly, and outwardly, consciousness follows after signs. These two should be known. What are the two complete purifications? They are that because illness is nearly pacified, one does not wander outwards, and there is no elaboration. This is called the two complete purifications. What is non-wandering and non-elaboration? Such diligence of non-elaboration is the completely pure conduct of the perfection of diligence of a Bodhisattva. Son of good family, what is the completely pure conduct of the perfection of meditation of a Bodhisattva? It is that one correctly cultivates the limbs of meditation, and having correctly cultivated them, individually discerns and
