Having understood this, he teaches the Dharma in accordance with it. Son of good family, this is the bodhisattva's five aspects of completely pure conduct of the supernormal knowledge of knowing the minds of others. He possesses five aspects of completely pure conduct of the supernormal knowledge of remembering previous abodes. What are the five aspects? They are: Whatever minds arise from the cause of desire, and whatever arise from the cause of hatred, and whatever arise from the cause of delusion, and he also remembers what kind of bodies they have fully taken. Whatever minds arise from the cause of generosity, and whatever arise from the cause of ethics, and whatever arise from the cause of love, and whatever arise from the cause of compassion, and whatever arise from the cause of samadhi, and he also remembers what kind of bodies they have fully taken. Whatever minds are different from the cause, and whatever are different from the condition, and whatever are different from the object, and he also remembers what kind of bodies they have fully taken. Whatever minds are unstated, and ignorance, and whatever are completely gathered by delusion, and he also remembers what kind of bodies they have fully taken. And also their lifespan, and color, and form, and splendor, and attendants, and power, and fame, and speech, and how their dominion has become, he also remembers. Son of good family, these are the five aspects of the bodhisattva's completely pure conduct of the supernormal knowledge of remembering previous abodes. He possesses five aspects of completely pure conduct of the supernormal knowledge of performing miracles. What are the five aspects? They are: like this, the miracle of universally showing bodies and forms, and the miracle of distinctly knowing words and sounds, and the miracle of manifestly producing mind and thought, and the miracle of distinctly knowing the language of all sentient beings, and the miracle of not manifestly producing manifestations. The conduct of the supernormal knowledge of performing miracles is completely pure, possessing these five aspects. Son of good family, this is the bodhisattva's supernormal knowledge of performing miracles.

The five kinds of completely pure supernormal cognitions. Son of good family, furthermore, examining with the eye of wisdom is the completely pure conduct of the bodhisattva's supernormal cognition of the divine eye. Abiding in the discriminated consciousness is the completely pure conduct of the supernormal cognition of the divine ear. Abiding in the discriminated consciousness is the completely pure conduct of the supernormal cognition of the divine ear. Abiding in the naturally completely pure is the completely pure conduct of the supernormal cognition of knowing the minds of others with wisdom. Abiding in completely severing the prior and subsequent limits is the completely pure conduct of the supernormal cognition of remembering previous lives. Abiding without manifesting fabrication is the completely pure conduct of the fifth supernormal cognition, the foot of miraculous power. Son of good family, those things that are known as supernormal cognitions are technical terms for the knowledge of the exhaustion of defilements. Son of good family, thus the bodhisattva sports with those five supernormal cognitions and also abides in the supernormal cognition of the exhaustion of defilements. Son of good family, for example, suppose that one must travel hundreds of thousands of millions of leagues, There is a great city. The road to that great city is difficult, long, and frightening, full of terrors, and without food, drink, or edibles. Whoever reaches that great city, all suffering will be forever cut off. Then, someone hears of the true qualities and praises of that great city, and that person has a son who is pleasing to see, lovely, agreeable, and without any disagreeable aspects. He abandons that only son and embarks on the road to that great city. He overcomes all suffering with strength and all diligence, and having passed that long road, one foot is placed on the threshold of the door of that great city, and the other foot is still outside. Then, he remembers that only son and thinks: Alas, I should bring that only son here and see what the future holds. Because of his love for that only son, he does not enter that great city, but returns.
