He strives to generate (virtuous dharmas), he strives to generate virtuous dharmas that have not yet arisen, and he strives to maintain, not decline, increase, and perfect virtuous dharmas that have already arisen. Son of good family, because the bodhisattva's previous actions are completely purified, virtuous dharmas naturally manifest by their own nature. Without effort and spontaneously accomplished, virtuous dharmas that have not yet arisen arise, and virtuous dharmas that have already arisen do not decline. Son of good family, in this way, the bodhisattva's conduct is completely purified, and these four right abandonments are controlled by the mind, not by effort. Those that are pure, immaculate, and flawless, and the mind and mental factors endowed with great love and great compassion praised by all the Buddhas arise, entering the right path, abiding in right abandonment. Why is that? Because his abandonment is equal, not unequal. His exertion is equal, not unequal. What is called right abandonment is the joining of equality with equality, and the accomplishment of equality with equality. Therefore, it is called right abandonment. Having thus entered the right path, his four miraculous legs of power are completely perfected. What are the four? They are: the miraculous leg of power with the samādhi of aspiration (chanda samādhi) and the activity of abandoning; the miraculous leg of power with the samādhi of effort (vīrya samādhi) and the activity of abandoning; the miraculous leg of power with the samādhi of mind (citta samādhi) and the activity of abandoning; and the miraculous leg of power with the samādhi of investigation (mīmāṃsā samādhi) and the activity of abandoning. He becomes lighter in aspiration through the superior intention of the mind of enlightenment. He becomes lighter in effort through abandoning non-virtuous dharmas. He becomes lighter in mind through fully attaining great compassion. He becomes lighter in investigation through fully attaining skillful means. Son of good family, those four miraculous legs of power of the bodhisattva

Having manifested the aspect of enlightenment, the Bodhisattva perfectly obtains four powers. What are the four? They are as follows: obtaining power over life. Having power over life, if desired, one can completely sustain long life among short-lived sentient beings and cause those sentient beings to mature. And for long-lived sentient beings who become weary when taught the Dharma, one can sustain short life in order to satisfy them by teaching the Dharma. In all births, whether as gods or humans, one has control over the measure of life. Son of the lineage, the Bodhisattva obtains this first power. Son of the lineage, furthermore, the Bodhisattva obtains power over the body. Having power over the body, one obtains the mind-made body, and the Bodhisattva shows all kinds of bodies, forms, colors, marks, shapes, and behaviors by which sentient beings become fully matured and tamed. If desired, the bodies, forms, colors, marks, shapes, and behaviors of all sentient beings can become the same. Son of the lineage, the Bodhisattva obtains this second power. Son of the lineage, furthermore, the Bodhisattva obtains power over the Dharma. Having power over the Dharma, one relies on the Dharma that transcends the world, and does not rely on the Dharma of the world. Even though one relies on the Dharma that transcends the world, one also appears in all worldly activities, and is not moved by the wisdom that transcends the world. This is the nature of wisdom and non-attachment, and the profound wisdom of dependent origination. By accomplishing the Dharmas, one makes the world with the gods rejoice. One speaks such Dharma that tames limitless sentient beings according to their thoughts and inclinations. Son of the lineage, the Bodhisattva obtains this third power. Son of the lineage, furthermore, the Bodhisattva obtains the power of blessing. Having power over blessing, one can bless all the great oceans of the three-thousandfold great thousand world realms into one ocean.

There is no mixture either, and that behavior is also universally manifested. In any case, even if all the Mount Merus, the king of mountains, in the world realm of the three thousand great thousand worlds, are blessed into one mountain, the sons of the gods of the retinue of the Four Great Kings and the sons of the gods of the Thirty-three, they will not know each other, and that behavior is also universally manifested. These world realms of the three thousand great thousand worlds, however they become a jewel ground, or become a sandalwood ground, or become a fragrant ground, or become a flower ground, or become space, or are completely filled with water, or are completely filled with fire, or are completely filled with all jewels, even if they are blessed in this way, they remain as they are. Similarly, whatever is blessed, however it is blessed, it becomes like that. As soon as his mind is generated, all blessings universally abide in that way. Son of lineage, the bodhisattva obtains these four powers. Son of lineage, furthermore, the bodhisattva who abides in the four legs of miraculous power abides, sits, and speaks together with the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the ten directions. Similarly, together with all the Brahmā, all the Indra, all the world protectors, gods, nāgas, yakṣas, gandharvas, asuras, garuḍas, kinnaras, mahoragas, humans and non-humans, they abide, sit, and speak. Why is that? Because that bodhisattva's legs of miraculous power have been extremely completely trained. So, what is the complete training of the legs of miraculous power? For example, in order to make the body light, one rises to the gurus and the objects of offering, serves, praises with respect, prostrates, joins palms and harmonizes; in order to make the speech light, one accepts the teachings that are pleasing to the mind and harmonizing, and acts accordingly; in order to make the mind light, one is without pride, without jealousy, serves the guru, is respectful, humble, extremely humble, the mind becomes capable, the mind is without complete suffering.
