Both of these, the self and the dualistic apprehension dwelling separately, are extremes. This, which cannot teach the Middle Way of those two, is merely nominally called the Middle Way, but it is not the ultimate. The ultimate is inexpressible. For there, there is neither little nor much. Where there is neither little nor much, that is the Middle Way. Son of good family, furthermore, both self and non-self are extremes. The nature of self and non-self being completely pure is the Middle Way. Life and person, both of these are extremes. The nature of life and person being completely pure is the Middle Way. Sign and signlessness, both of these are extremes. Not clinging to signlessness is the Middle Way. Object and non-object, both of these are extremes. Without conceptualization and destruction is the Middle Way. False and true, both of these are extremes. Inexpressible is the Middle Way. This shore and the far shore, both of these are extremes. The cessation of the aggregates of destruction is the Middle Way. Conditioned and unconditioned, both of these are extremes. Without action is the Middle Way. Cyclic existence and nirvana, both of these are extremes. Without discriminating consciousness is the Middle Way. Son of good family, thus, that Bodhisattva who dwells in mindfulness, observing the dharmas according to the dharmas, dwells in mindfulness because the realm of dharmas is undifferentiated. He fully knows that all dharmas gather into the realm of dharmas. Whatever is the realm of dharmas, that is the realm of sentient beings. He understands that the realm of sentient beings is undifferentiated because the realm of dharmas is undifferentiated. He fully knows that whatever is the realm of dharmas and whatever is the realm of sentient beings, both of these are similar to the realm of space. If he knows all dharmas to be one realm, then even though he observes the dharmas according to the dharmas and dwells in them, he will not become attached to or view the dharmas. When he sees, he does not differentiate the dharmas. Even though he sees the dharmas, he does not see with the eye of flesh, nor does he see with the eye of the gods, but he sees with the eye of wisdom. Why is that?

If so, his eye is not clinging to characteristics, therefore it is not seen by the eye of flesh. His eye is not fallen into manifest fabrication, therefore it is not seen by the divine eye. His eye is not engaged in elaboration, therefore it is not seen by the eye of wisdom. Abiding by observing the Dharma in relation to the Dharmas, one sees all Dharmas as they are and does not abide in any Dharma. Knowing that all Dharmas do not abide, and remembering the Dharma, one does not abandon the previous vows. This son of good family, the Bodhisattva's remembrance of the Dharma in relation to the Dharmas, is granted by the Buddha. Even if one slightly discriminates about the profound Dharma, one does not abandon the remembrance of the mind of enlightenment of the all-knowing one. This son of good family, the Bodhisattva's practice of the four mindfulnesses, observing the Dharma in relation to the Dharmas, is completely pure. Abiding in these four mindfulnesses, one completely abandons the four inversions. What are the four? They are as follows: By abiding, observing the body in relation to the body, one completely abandons the inversion of perceiving impurity as purity. By abiding, observing feelings in relation to feelings, one completely abandons the inversion of perceiving suffering as happiness. By abiding, observing the mind in relation to the mind, one completely abandons the inversion of perceiving impermanence as permanence. By abiding, observing the Dharma in relation to the Dharmas, one completely abandons the inversion of perceiving selflessness as self. Because there are no inversions, one accomplishes reality. Having entered reality, all the Bodhisattva's actions become completely pure. Son of good family, in this way, the Bodhisattva's completely pure conduct also obtains the completely pure conduct of correct abandonment. What is the completely pure conduct of correct abandonment? It is that the Bodhisattva, without effort and spontaneously, engages his mind in virtuous Dharmas, but not in non-virtuous ones. Therefore, striving to abandon sinful, non-virtuous Dharmas that have arisen, and for sinful, non-virtuous Dharmas that have not arisen
