These are unable to believe. These five hundred Vinaya-holding monks, regarding the teachings of the Tathagata Kashyapa, became Shravakas of the heretics, and with thoughts surpassing the Tathagata Kashyapa, they heard one teaching. Having heard it, they gained one mind of joy. They thought, "How wonderful it is that the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Awakened One, Kashyapa, speaks so gently and sweetly!" At the time of their death, having gained one mind of joy, they were born among the gods of the Thirty-Three. Having died and transmigrated from there, they were born here. Due to that very cause, they have gone forth in my teachings. These five hundred Vinaya-holding monks who are drowning in views do not enter into this profound teaching, because they do not understand, do not believe, and are afraid, always alarmed, always extremely alarmed. However, these ones, having been purified by this teaching, will not fall into evil destinies in the future, and will attain Nirvana with these very aggregates. Then, the Blessed One addressed the venerable Subhuti: "Subhuti, go and understand all those monks." Subhuti replied: "Blessed One, even if I were to explain to them all day, they would not agree, so what need is there for me to go see them?" Then, the Blessed One emanated two emanation monks on the path where those monks desired to go. Then, those five hundred monks met those two emanation monks on the path where they desired to go, and they said this: "Venerable ones, where are you going?" The two said: "We are going to abide in places of solitude, experiencing the bliss of meditative concentration. Why? Because we do not enter into the teachings taught by the Blessed One, we do not understand, do not believe, and are afraid, always alarmed, always extremely alarmed, so we will abide in places of solitude, experiencing the bliss of meditative concentration." Those five hundred monks said this: "Venerable ones, we also do not enter into the teachings taught by the Blessed One, because we do not

Not believing and being afraid, completely panicked, completely panicked, completely extremely panicked. Therefore, we who dwell in the joy of meditation in secluded places should abide. The emanations said: Venerable ones, therefore we should walk truthfully, do not argue, striving for non-contention is the Dharma of a Shramana. Venerable ones, what is called complete Nirvana? What is the Dharma that will be completely extinguished? Is this body self? Or sentient being? Or life? Or the one who is born? Or the person? Or the individual? Or born of power? Or son of power? What will be completely extinguished? What is extinguished and completely extinguished? They said: Greed is extinguished, hatred is extinguished, ignorance is extinguished and completely extinguished. Two emanations said: Venerable ones, are there greed, hatred, and ignorance? How to make them extinguished? They said: These are not inside, nor outside, nor do they rely on the absence of both, these are not born from complete non-attention either. Two emanations said: Venerable ones, since this is the case, do not attend, do not attend completely! Venerable ones, when one does not attend, does not attend completely, then it will not become attachment, nor will it be separated from attachment. That which has no attachment and is not separated from attachment is called peace. Venerable ones, morality does not cycle, nor does it completely pass into Nirvana. Venerable ones, Samadhi and wisdom, as well as liberation and the wisdom seeing of liberation, do not cycle, nor do they completely pass into Nirvana. Venerable ones, if one teaches complete Nirvana with these Dharmas, then these Dharmas are also empty, solitary, and cannot be grasped. Venerable ones, for example, abandon the perception of Nirvana, do not take perception as perception, do not completely know perception by perception, whoever knows perception by perception, that person is bound by his perception. Venerable ones, enter into the attainment of the cessation of perception and feeling, Venerable
