Ananda, I directly know that after the Bodhisattva Mahasattva Maitreya has properly entered, after forty-two kalpas, I first generated the mind for unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Ananda, after this Bhadrakalpa has passed, in ninety-four kalpas, I will manifest the reason for attaining unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment. Ananda, because I have made my effort blaze, I quickly manifested unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and became a Buddha. Ananda, with great effort, I quickly manifested unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and became a Buddha. Ananda, these ten dharmas made me quickly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. What are the ten? Ananda, these ten dharmas made me quickly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Ananda, I abide in the dharma of the qualities of morality, therefore I quickly manifested unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and became a Buddha. Perfect enlightenment is manifested as Buddhahood. Ananda, I abide in the Perfection of Wisdom and swiftly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Ananda, because I have not abandoned all sentient beings, I swiftly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Ananda, I abide in skillful means and swiftly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Ananda, because I have equanimity towards all sentient beings, I swiftly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Ananda, because I have realized the Dharma of emptiness, I swiftly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Ananda, because I have realized the Dharma of the signless and the wishless, I swiftly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Ananda, with these ten Dharmas, I swiftly manifest unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become a Buddha. Ananda, if you knew with what kind of intense and severe suffering I manifested unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment, Ananda, you would not be proud. Why is that? Ananda, in the past, there was a prince named "Generous Giver of All Wealth," who had a beautiful form, was handsome, pleasing to behold, had a good complexion, was endowed with excellence, and possessed great royal wealth and great royal power. He went to the Pleasure Garden, and there he saw a person whose belly was swollen, afflicted by disease, and afflicted with intense suffering. Having seen him, he felt compassion and went to where that person was, and having gone there, he said, "Hey, why are you suffering so much?" The person said, "God, I am afflicted by illness." The prince said, "Hey, how will your illness be cured? What can I give you?" The person said, "If I could drink blood from your body, god, enough to satisfy me..."
