It is to attend purely and completely, not unequally. Son of the gods, others also renounce in this way and attend completely in this way. I say to them, 'Son of good family, if you do not take the precepts, then you desire the precepts.' One should give subsequent instruction. The son of the gods said, 'Manjushri, from what consideration do you say that?' Manjushri said, 'Son of the gods, all dharmas are ungrasped. Son of the gods, whoever takes the precepts takes the three realms.' Son of the gods, what do you think? What do you think the precepts are? The son of the gods said, 'Manjushri, it is the Pratimoksha vows.' Manjushri said, 'Son of the gods, what are the Pratimoksha vows?' The son of the gods said, 'Manjushri, what is called vows are the vows of body, the vows of speech, and the vows of mind. That is what is called the Pratimoksha vows.' Manjushri said, 'Son of the gods, what do you think? Can the actions that are not done, are not being done, and will not be done by body, speech, and mind be designated as blue, yellow, red, white, onion-colored, or like the color of glass?' The son of the gods said, 'Manjushri, that is not so.' Manjushri said, 'Son of the gods, then how should it be said?' The son of the gods said, 'Manjushri, it should be said that there is no manifest action. It is not possible to designate that as an action of body, an action of speech, or an action of mind.' Manjushri said, 'Son of the gods, what do you think? Is it possible to take what is not manifestly acting?' The son of the gods said, 'Manjushri, that is not so.' Manjushri said, 'Son of the gods, therefore, thinking about that, I say, "Whoever does not take the precepts desires the precepts," and thus I teach. Son of the gods, the training in higher morality, the training in higher mind, and the training in higher wisdom should also be understood by that very limit. Because morality is not observed, it is called the training in higher morality. Because mind is not observed, it is called the training in higher mind. Because wisdom is not observed, it is called the training in higher wisdom. Mind is...'

Without conceptualization and without pride, without discrimination and without arising, this is called the higher training in mind. Morality without conceptualization and without pride, without discrimination and without arising, this is called the higher training in morality. Wisdom without conceptualization and without pride, without discrimination and without arising, this is called the higher training in wisdom. Son of the gods, whoever has not attained the mind becomes proud of discipline. Whoever does not become proud of discipline does not focus on samadhi. Whoever does not focus on samadhi does not focus on wisdom. Whoever does not focus on wisdom, all doubts do not arise. Whoever does not have all doubts arising does not take up the training. Whoever does not take up the training is called desiring training. Whoever desires training is a non-returner. Whoever is a non-returner is a pure one. Whoever is pure is detached. Whoever is detached is without outflows. Whoever is without outflows has rightly entered. Whoever has rightly entered has no fabrication. Whoever has no fabrication is like the sky. Why? Because the sky is without fabrication. Son of the gods, whoever learns in this way does not learn. Whoever does not learn is learning. What does one learn? One does not learn anything. When one does not learn anything, it is called abiding in the training of perfect purity. Furthermore, Manjushri Kumara spoke thus to the son of the gods, Uttaramati: Son of the gods, one who has thus gone forth and thus taken full ordination, I would say to him, "Son of good family, if you were to enjoy and not purify all the possessions given with joy by all the three thousand great thousand world realms, then you would be completely pure in morality." The son of the gods said: Manjushri, with what intention do you speak thus? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, whoever takes and enjoys is purifying. Whoever focuses on an object is purifying. Whoever is proud is purifying. Whoever discriminates is purifying.
