The Sutra of the Great Vehicle, named "Asked by the Noble Son of Gods, Sagacious Intellect." The Sutra of the Great Vehicle, named "Asked by the Noble Son of Gods, Sagacious Intellect." The Prophecy of the Noble Son of Gods, Sagacious Intellect, Asked. The Sutra of the Great Vehicle. Volume Three. Then, Mañjuśrī, become a youth, asked the Bhagavan thus: "Bhagavan, Bodhisattva Mahasattva who possesses the first arising of mind, who possesses the first arising of mind, how much does a Bodhisattva possess the first arising of mind?" The Bhagavan replied: "Mañjuśrī, whichever Bodhisattva generates perception and attention from all three realms, that is called possessing the first arising of mind." Mañjuśrī asked: "As I understand the meaning of what the Bhagavan has said, whichever Bodhisattva generates desire, anger, and delusion, that is called possessing the first arising of mind." Then, the son of gods, Sagacious Intellect, said to Mañjuśrī, become a youth, thus: "Mañjuśrī, if generating desire, anger, and delusion is the Bodhisattva's first arising of mind, then in that case, ordinary childish beings would also become possessors of the first arising of mind. Why is that? Mañjuśrī, it is because they also generate desire, anger, and delusion." Mañjuśrī said: "Son of gods, ordinary childish beings are not able to generate desire, anger, and delusion. Why is that? Son of gods, desire, anger, and delusion are generated by the Buddhas, the Pratyekabuddhas, the Śrāvakas, and the irreversible Bodhisattvas." The son of gods said: "Mañjuśrī, this assembly does not understand your intended meaning, and if they are confused, please explain and show it clearly." Mañjuśrī said: "Son of gods, what do you think? Does a bird flying in the sky above fly away? Or does it stay?" The son of gods

Spoke. Manjushri flew away. Manjushri said: "Son of the gods, I thought about it from that, so I said that. Those that generate desire, hatred, and ignorance, know that those are what the Buddhas, Pratyekabuddhas, Shravakas, and irreversible Bodhisattvas teach." "Son of the gods, that which has no basis is birth. That which has no excessive attachment is birth. That which has no manifest clinging is birth. Son of the gods, that which has no basis, no excessive attachment, and no manifest clinging, that is birth. That which is called birth is non-existent. That which is called birth is the basis of the unthinkable. That which is called birth is the basis of the unborn. That which is called birth is the basis of no self-nature. That which is called birth is the basis of no thing. That which is called birth is the basis of no coming. That which is called birth is the basis of no going. That which is called birth is the basis of no birth. That which is called birth is the basis of no object. That which is called birth is the basis of no consciousness. That which is called birth is the basis of no dust. That which is called birth is the basis of no pride. That which is called birth is the basis of no action. That which is called birth is the basis of the inexpressible. That which is called birth is the basis of the indivisible. That which is called birth is the basis of no letters. That which is called birth is the basis of no grasping. That which is called birth is the basis of no abiding. That which is called birth is the basis of no taking. That which is called birth is the basis of no abandoning. That which is called birth is the basis of irreversibility. Son of the gods, do not be arrogant about this Dharma. Do not be manifestly attached. Do not think. Do not know. Do not see. Do not hear. Do not discriminate. Do not take. Do not give up. Do not generate. Do not stop. Whatever that is, that is the first generation of the mind of a Bodhisattva."
