What is meant by 'stain'? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, desire is a stain, hatred is a stain, ignorance is a stain, existence is a stain, views are a stain, name is a stain, form is a stain, feeling is a stain, excessive grasping is a stain, apprehending signs is a stain, elaboration is a stain. Son of the gods, not directing the mind towards those unwholesome dharmas is to be without stain. That which is without stain is without anything. That which is without anything is without afflictions. That which is without afflictions is like space. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, without activity, if it is said to be without activity, Manjushri, what is meant by without activity? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, without activity, that which is called without activity is not to increase anything in any dharma; that is called without activity. Son of the gods, the Tathagata has spoken of 'without activity' to those who increase; that is called without activity. The son of the gods said: Manjushri, what is increased? Manjushri said: Son of the gods, one who transcends equality and, having transcended equality, wrongly abides in and increases that dharma which has not been found, is not found, and will not be found, and which has not arisen, does not arise, and will not arise. For example, one imagines and increases 'self,' and one imagines and increases sentient beings, life, persons, those born of power, individuals, permanence, and annihilation. And one imagines and increases aggregates, elements, and sense-fields. And one imagines and increases Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha. And one imagines and increases 'this one has morality, this one has broken morality.' And one imagines and increases complete defilement, purification, attainment, fruit, and direct experience. And one imagines

And especially to emphasize. This is emptiness, signlessness, wishlessness, wisdom, liberation, and desirelessness. To contemplate and emphasize in this way. Sons of the gods, those who are young and ignorant and do not have the conditions to hear the Dharma, will contemplate and emphasize these things that should be emphasized. Those foolish people will speculate and fully contemplate the Dharma that should be contemplated. In order to stop their desire to speculate, the Tathagata proclaimed that there is nothing to be emphasized. Then, the son of the gods, Prajnakumara, praised Manjushri, the youth, saying: "Good, Manjushri, good, good! Manjushri, you have spoken well in explaining this absence of emphasis! Good! Good!" The Blessed One also praised Manjushri, the youth, saying: "Good, Manjushri, good, good! If it should be proclaimed, it should be proclaimed in this way." Furthermore, Manjushri, the youth, said to the son of the gods, Prajnakumara, these words: "Son of the gods, if someone comes to me for the sake of ordination, I will say to him: 'Noble son, if you do not take the full ordination, then you are an ordained person.'" The son of the gods asked: "Manjushri, based on what do you say that?" Manjushri replied: "Son of the gods, the Blessed One said that there are two kinds of full ordination: equal full ordination and unequal full ordination. What is unequal full ordination? It is falling into inequality. What is inequality? It is falling into self-grasping, falling into sentient being-grasping, falling into life-grasping, falling into person-grasping, falling into permanence, falling into annihilation, falling into pride, falling into wrong view, falling into attachment, falling into anger, falling into delusion, falling into the desire realm, falling into the form realm, falling into the formless realm, falling into superimposition, falling into arrogance, falling into clinging. Son of the gods, in short, it is falling into all unwholesome dharmas, falling into the hands of evil friends, not understanding renunciation and completely...

That which completely receives everything, son of the gods, that is the unequaled perfect attendance. What is perfect attendance? It is abiding in equality. What is equality? It is the equality of emptiness, the equality of signlessness, and the equality of wishlessness. Son of the gods, for these three doors of liberation, to directly realize them as they truly are, without conception, without discrimination, without pervasive conception, and without regression, that, son of the gods, is perfect attendance. Furthermore, son of the gods, that which eliminates desire, eliminates hatred, eliminates delusion, as well as craving, ignorance, the view of the destructible aggregate, and the sixty-two types of views arising from the root of the view of the destructible aggregate, that which eliminates inversions, eliminates the three evil conducts, eliminates the eight wrong paths, eliminates the nine objects of pervasive torment, and eliminates the ten non-virtuous paths of action, that is called true perfect attendance. Son of the gods, for example, relying on the earth, all seeds grow, and all grasses, trees, medicinal herbs, and forests also grow, and when they increase, it is called perfection. Son of the gods, similarly, those who perfect this teaching are also called perfect attendance. Son of the gods, for example, the great earth is the support of all seeds, and similarly, the perfection of discipline should be regarded. Why is that? Because by relying on discipline, one can realize the Dharma. Just as seeds and medicinal herbs grow and are called perfection, similarly, relying on discipline and faith, all the qualities in harmony with the aspects of enlightenment arise and become perfect. Son of the gods, for the three doors of liberation, whoever realizes them and completely cuts off all elaborations, that is the perfect attendance of all the hearers of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, of the past, future, and present. Son of the gods, whoever thus perfectly attends, that is
