, like the Dharma of grass, trees, and walls, it is the same as immovability, so it cannot be used. If the mind uses it, the mind is like an illusion, without a dwelling place, so it cannot be used. If something outside the body and mind uses it, that is non-existent, how can the non-existent use it? Then, the venerable Mahakashyapa also became silent. Subhuti said: Venerable Mahakashyapa, please obtain the answer to the question asked by the daughter. Mahakashyapa said: The daughter is not asking about acceptance, the daughter is asking about non-acceptance, and is asking about the true limit, so it is impossible to answer. Then, the daughter Vimaladatta said this to the venerable Subhuti: In this way, Venerable Subhuti is shown by the Bhagavan to be the best of those who abide in the absence of afflictions. Is this absence of afflictions completely distinguished by things? Or is it completely distinguished by Dharma-nature? If it is completely distinguished by things, then it will become conditioned. If it is completely distinguished by Dharma-nature, then Dharma-nature is the characteristic of non-arising and the characteristic of non-cessation. What is the characteristic of non-arising and non-cessation? That is equality. What is equality? That is Suchness. What is Suchness? That is immutability. What is immutability? That is inexpressibility. What is inexpressibility? That is inconceivability. What is inconceivability? That is un-demonstrability. What is un-demonstrability? That is the absence of things. What is the absence of things? That is unborn. What is unborn? That is what the noble ones do not show. Then, the venerable Subhuti also became silent. Then, the venerable Nagasena said this to the venerable Subhuti: Venerable Subhuti, please obtain the answer to the question asked by the daughter. Subhuti said: There is nothing to say about this, not saying anything is what is obtained. This Dharma without elaboration, the daughter is completely inquiring about. As long as things have arising,

will be stained by faults. The realm of Dharma is beyond words. This is the aspect of being without afflictions. Then, the maiden Vimaladatta said to the venerable Nāga, "Venerable Nāga, the Blessed One has taught that you are the best of those who meditate. Do you meditate by abiding in the mind? Or do you meditate by abiding in the absence of mind? If you meditate by abiding in the mind, the mind is inexpressible and like an illusion, because it is a false imputation. Then, do you meditate by abiding in the absence of false imputation? If you meditate by abiding in the absence of mind, then all arising and decaying things such as grass, trees, walls, and stones will become samādhi. Why is that? Like this, those are because of the absence of mind." The venerable Nāga also became silent. Then, the venerable Anivarta said this to the venerable Nāga, "Venerable Nāga, please answer the maiden's question!" Nāga said, "The maiden is asking about the realm of the Tathāgata, which cannot be taught by the Śrāvakas." The maiden said, "Venerable Nāga, is the realm of Dharma different from that of the Tathāgatas, or is it different from that of the Śrāvakas? If the realm of Dharma is different, then it will become distinct. Suchness is not dual, therefore, if there is no difference between suchness and duality, then why does the venerable Nāga say that?" Nāga also became silent. Then, the maiden Vimaladatta said this to the venerable Anivarta, "Like this, the venerable Anivarta is the best of those with divine eyes as taught by the Blessed One. Do you see objects with the divine eye, or do you see the absence of objects? If you see objects, then it will become eternalism. If you see the absence of objects, then it will become nihilism, and that is also unreasonable." Anivarta also became silent. Then, the venerable Ānanda said this to the venerable Anivarta, "Venerable An
