, similarly, all the Dharma spoken by the Tathagata, she has well and completely upheld, and she has not wasted a single letter or word in meaning or phrase. She never forgot the scene of the Tathagata being surrounded by the Bhikshu Sangha. Whether day or night, she never stopped seeing the Buddha, hearing the Dharma, and making offerings to the Sangha. The Brahmin woman was content with seeing the Buddha, hearing the Dharma, and making offerings to the Sangha. Then, the Brahmin Brahma god said to a Brahmin boy: Brahmin boy, go and tell this story to the king and queen. Then, that Brahmin boy went quickly and told the king and queen everything he had seen and heard. Due to the grace of the Immaculate Giver girl, five hundred Brahmins, including the Brahmin Brahma god, all generated the mind of unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, thus praising the Buddha, praising the Dharma and the Sangha. Then, the Immaculate Giver girl got out of the chariot and, together with those Brahmins, went to where those Bodhisattvas and great Shravakas were, and upon arriving, she bowed her head at their feet, respectfully and obediently sat in front of the Venerable Shariputra, and with her palms together towards the Venerable Shariputra, she said to the Venerable Shariputra: Venerable Shariputra, women are of shallow wisdom, intense afflictions, many negligences, fond of the inferior, and subject to improper attention. Please, Venerable, have compassion and pity on me, and for my long-term benefit, happiness, and well-being, please, Venerable, explain the Dharma well to me. King Light of Kosala heard this news and the words of the Brahmins, and quickly went in that direction. He bowed to those Shravakas and Bodhisattvas, and then said to his daughter: Daughter, you say you have never been foolish and

Have you not been suppressed? Have you never generated a mind of joy and playfulness? If so, are you striving for ease and peace of mind? Or are you speaking in this dejected manner? Then, King Gsal rgyal spoke to his own daughter in verse: Your form is beautiful, comparable to a goddess. The various ornaments possess the appearance of a goddess. How could you ever be overcome by sleep? Why, daughter, are you so dejected? Your kingdom is prosperous and exceedingly wealthy. Your mother is always under your control. Daughter, what else could be more joyful than that? Does that not bring joy to your body? It is sad and regrettable, and also charming, if it could bring joy to all beings. You are adorned with hundreds of virtues, why is there no joy in this house? Daughter, what have you heard, what have you seen, that you are so unhappy? Completely despondent, with a mind full of melancholy. What are your desires, tell me. Then, the daughter, Immaculate Giver, spoke in verse to her father, King Gsal rgyal: Father, do you not understand that the aggregates are vessels of faults? Do you not understand the faults of the household? The place of samsara is like a dance. The world of existence is impermanent and subject to destruction. In this house dwelling among venomous snakes, where is there any thought of sleep or desire? These elements are four venomous snakes, where is there existence, thought, or happiness? Tormented by unfriendly groups, even going to a solitary place, where is there happiness? Surrounded by the enemies of afflictions, how can happiness be attained, please tell me, O King. Where is there happiness in drinking poison? Where is there happiness in being led to slaughter? Who would trust in this great precipice? O King, the world of existence is like that. The bodies abandoned by evil-minded ones have become heaps as large as Mount Meru. If the Thus-Gone One (Sanskrit: Tathāgata) has given such an example, who would trust in the deceptive conditioned phenomena? Father and mother, sorrow and brothers, sons and relatives, all beings, all conditioned things are like reflections in a mirror. This
