And these two dharmas, the clinging to self and the clinging to what is mine, are not non-existent. Whatever dharma is non-existent cannot be observed. The girl given by Sorrowless said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, it is just so. All dharmas are non-existent, so they cannot be observed. Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, are even the Buddha's dharmas non-existent? The girl said: Whether it is the dharma of the abiding saints or the dharma of ordinary beings, do you want some dharmas to be completely established? Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, I do not even want the dharmas of ordinary beings to be completely established, let alone the dharmas of the Buddha. The girl said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, what are those dharmas that are not completely established? Are they existent or non-existent? Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, those that are non-existent are non-existent. The girl said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, therefore all dharmas are indeed non-existent. For those that are non-existent, there is no need to practice observation. Venerable Mahākāśyapa, a son or daughter of good family who wishes to cultivate the observation of the Buddha should cultivate the observation of self. Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, how does the observation of self become purified? The girl said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, when one believes that all dharmas are without self-nature because the self has no self-nature, then by that alone, the observation of self will become purified. Mahākāśyapa said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, when one believes that all dharmas are without self-nature because the self has no self-nature, then by that alone, the observation of self will become purified. Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, what is the self-nature of self? The girl said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, the self-nature of self is emptiness. Because the self has no self-nature, the self is also solitary. The absence of self-nature makes the self solitary. The absence of self-nature makes all dharmas solitary. Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, from whom did you hear the Dharma that you have developed such a correct view? Daughter, there are two causes and conditions for the arising of a correct view.

There are two reasons: they arise from hearing the words of others and from properly attending to one's own nature. Thus he spoke. The daughter said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, those who possess wisdom that does not rely on others, their views become purified from separately contemplating the words of others and their own nature as it is. Venerable Mahākāśyapa, those who possess wisdom that does not rely on others do not seek the words of others. Venerable Mahākāśyapa, how does a bhikṣu enter properly? Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, when a bhikṣu closely examines the meaning of the dharmas as he has heard them, then the bhikṣu enters properly. Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, how does a bodhisattva enter properly? The daughter said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, when a bodhisattva dwells together with all beings, yet does not generate the perception of beings, then the bodhisattva enters properly. Venerable Mahākāśyapa, the so-called "entering" means that all dharmas are endowed with the suchness of the prior limit. All dharmas are endowed with the suchness of the later limit. All dharmas are endowed with the suchness of what arises now. Venerable Mahākāśyapa, if a bodhisattva does not combine with such a combination, then just by that, the bodhisattva enters properly. Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, how should those dharmas be combined? The daughter said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, just as there is no combining with suchness, and no non-combining is seen, so should all dharmas be combined. Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, how does one see all dharmas by seeing? The daughter said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, if one sees all dharmas as non-dual, neither making nor destroying, then one sees all dharmas. Venerable Mahākāśyapa, the so-called "seeing" is the ultimate truth of not seeing. Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, how should I look? The daughter said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa should look as he sees.

Oṃ! Mahākāśyapa said: Daughter, I have not seen "I" and "mine." The daughter said: Venerable Mahākāśyapa, just as you do not see "I" and "mine," all dharmas should be viewed in the same way. When this was said, the Venerable Subhūti said to the daughter Mīyan Wu Shi: Daughter, you have obtained such fearlessness, you are truly good at obtaining! The daughter Mīyan Wu Shi said: Venerable Subhūti, fearlessness does not arise from obtaining, but whoever has not obtained anything is the one who possesses fearlessness; whoever cannot discern anything internal or external is the one who possesses fearlessness. Subhūti said: Daughter, what is it that one must not obtain to possess fearlessness? The daughter said: Whoever has not obtained "I" and "not-I," is not virtuous, is not non-virtuous, is not with fault, is not without fault, is not with outflows, is not without outflows, is not conditioned, is not unconditioned, is not worldly, is not beyond worldly, is not afflicted, is not purified, has not obtained saṃsāra and nirvāṇa, does not discern the dharmas of ordinary beings, nor does he discern the dharmas of noble ones, and even does not discern the dharmas of the Buddha. Venerable Subhūti, in this way, whoever has not obtained anything is the one who possesses fearlessness. Subhūti said: How does one become fearless? The daughter said: Venerable Subhūti, just as you have not obtained all dharmas, that is how one becomes fearless. Who can speak or express the suchness of dharmas, this suchness is the supreme of no affliction realized by the abiding ones? For the unafflicted and the suchness of dharmas, what fearlessness can be spoken of? Subhūti said: The unafflicted and suchness cannot be declared or expressed. The daughter said: Venerable Subhūti, if all dharmas are inexpressible, then how is it that you say, "Daughter, you possess such fearlessness, you are truly good at obtaining"? Subhūti said: Daughter, you teach with such emptiness of fearlessness, daughter
