Should be distinguished by use, service, and reverence. Like a fire burning on the head and clothes, with words that make others' hearts and minds happy, following, making them follow, truly praising, being a friend, becoming a friend, agreeing in goodness, and agreeing in meaning, thereby causing them to believe and gathering them, those who are suitable for the Hearer Vehicle are introduced into the Hearer Vehicle, tamed, and placed. Those who are suitable for the Solitary Buddha Vehicle are introduced into the Solitary Buddha Vehicle. Those who are suitable for the Perfect Enlightenment Vehicle are introduced into the Perfect Enlightenment Vehicle, tamed, and placed. Even if obstructed by short spears, the wise and diligent one, like a fire burning on the head and clothes, regards cold as trivial for the cause of the sacred Dharma and the purpose of the sacred Dharma, as well as the cause of the six perfections and the purpose of the six perfections, and the cause of virtue and the purpose of virtue, as well as heat, hunger, thirst, mosquitoes, gadflies, wind, sun, contact with poisonous snakes, and the path of words of others' malicious speech and slander, as well as fatigue, afflictions, sleep, displeasure, and even body and life as trivial. Even if obstructed by short spears, the wise and diligent one, for the cause of perfect enlightenment and the purpose of perfect enlightenment, regards the suffering of gods as trivial, the suffering of non-gods (asuras) as trivial, the suffering of humans as trivial, the suffering of pretas (hungry ghosts) as trivial, and the suffering of the birth place of animals and the suffering of sentient beings in hell as trivial. Even if obstructed by short spears, the wise and diligent one, in order to obtain the complete Buddha Dharma of inequality and equality, and in order to obtain complete conduct and complete all perfections, diligence is firm and steadfast. When wanting to manifest and begin this diligence and this steadfastness, one must also liberate all sentient beings, all sentient beings.

English

to liberate, and to relieve all sentient beings, to obtain omniscience, and to completely vow for the sake of perfecting all the Buddha's teachings. To manifest, to create, after manifesting, and after creating, also to save all sentient beings, and to liberate all sentient beings, and to relieve all sentient beings, to obtain omniscience, and to completely vow for the sake of perfecting all the Buddha's teachings. If this diligence has not declined, is without fault, is not guiding, and does not possess the ability to learn, then learn it correctly in this way: from time to time, or little by little, also strive to abandon negligence and laziness, to discard and eliminate. Strive! Be diligent! From time to time, or little by little, also strive to learn diligence and vigor, to increase it, and to perfect it. Strive! Be diligent! Even if reborn in another existence, one will not be discouraged and will not shrink back. The arising of the mind of enlightenment of the Bodhisattvas, and the recollection of the mind of enlightenment, and the cultivation of the mind of enlightenment, and the aspiration for enlightenment, and the establishment of the aspiration for enlightenment, that is their virtuous diligence and virtuous effort, which are countless and immeasurable. What is the reason for that? For example, in all the realms of the world, wanting to generate uncontaminated diligence for all sentient beings, and wanting to truly generate uncontaminated diligence, and wanting to generate non-learning diligence, and wanting to truly generate non-learning diligence, that is the most supreme of all virtuous diligence and virtuous effort. That is the ultimate. Good Hand, in this way, the Bodhisattva possesses happiness, possesses mental happiness, and with little effort and little suffering, quickly and swiftly perfects the perfection of diligence. Second Chapter. Good Hand, how does the Bodhisattva perfect the perfection of meditation?

If so, O Rajjasena, when a Bodhisattva sees forms with his eyes, he does not cling to characteristics, nor does he cling to manifested signs. Because if the faculty of the eye is not restrained and guarded, then worldly greed, displeasure, and sinful unwholesome dharmas will flow after the mind. In order to restrain and guard these, he strives and protects, and uses the faculty of the eye to restrain the faculty of the eye. Similarly, when he hears sounds with his ears, smells odors with his nose, tastes flavors with his tongue, touches tangibles with his body, and distinguishes dharmas with his mind, he does not cling to characteristics, nor does he cling to manifested signs. Because if the faculty of the mind is not restrained and guarded, then worldly greed, displeasure, and sinful unwholesome dharmas will flow after the mind. In order to restrain and guard these, he strives and protects, and uses the faculty of the mind to restrain the faculty of the mind. Whether he walks, stands, sits, lies down, or remains silent, he does not abandon the state of meditative equipoise and the state of tranquility. He does not abandon them. He is not frivolous, not garrulous, not verbose, not with wandering eyes, not with a wandering mind, not frivolous, not rash, without bodily distraction, without speech distraction, without mind distraction. Whether in solitude or not in solitude, his conduct does not decline. He is content with food, drink, bedding, cushions, dwellings, medicinal remedies for illness, and whatever utensils, easy to nourish, easy to satisfy, easy to serve, with virtuous conduct and livelihood, living in a place remote from bustle. He is equal and unchanging in gain and loss, neither arrogant nor dejected. He is equal and unchanging in pleasure and pain, praise and blame, fame and obscurity, life and death, neither arrogant nor dejected. He is equal in friends and enemies, good and evil, agreeable and concordant, disagreeable and discordant, noble and non-noble dharmas, solitude and bustle, etc.
