It is in order to obtain the unsurpassed miraculous power of the Thus-Gone One. If one wishes to correctly take the discipline, or wishes to practice it more, then all the roots of virtue of body, speech, and mind should be dedicated to saving all sentient beings, to liberating all sentient beings, to comforting all sentient beings, to obtaining omniscience, and to perfecting all the Buddha's teachings. Correctly holding, practicing more, correctly taking, and after practicing more, also dedicating to saving all sentient beings, to liberating all sentient beings, to comforting all sentient beings, to obtaining omniscience, and to perfecting all the Buddha's teachings. If that discipline is not destroyed, not broken, not leading, and does not have the ability to teach, then learn correctly in this way: at all times, or little by little, strive to abandon, discard, and eliminate non-virtuous things.

Thus it is. From time to time, or little by little, one should also train in virtue, and strive to increase it, and to perfect it. Strive! Even in another existence, one will not become timid, nor will one become lazy. Good Hand! The generation of the mind of enlightenment of the Bodhisattvas, and the recollection of the mind of enlightenment, and the meditation on the mind of enlightenment, and the aspiration for enlightenment, and the establishment of the aspiration for enlightenment, that is the perfect upholding of the virtuous discipline of those ones, and the further training in the virtuous discipline is immeasurable and countless. Why is that? For example, in all the realms of the world, the desire to generate the discipline without outflows for all sentient beings, the desire to generate the discipline without learning, the desire to generate the discipline without outflows correctly, the desire to generate the discipline without learning correctly, that is the perfect upholding of the virtuous discipline, and the supreme of further practicing the virtuous discipline. That is supreme. Good Hand! Thus, the Bodhisattva is endowed with happiness, endowed with joy, and with little effort and little suffering, quickly perfects the perfection of discipline. Good Hand! How does the Bodhisattva perfect the perfection of patience? Good Hand! In this, the Bodhisattva, for other beings, cuts off his own life, or steals all possessions, or steals his wife, or speaks falsely, or speaks slander, or speaks harshly, or speaks idle words, or scolds, or kills, or seizes, or beats, or cuts, but does not retaliate, nor does he become angry again, nor does he harbor resentment, nor does he hold a grudge. He trains correctly in this way: I have done and accumulated these sinful and unwholesome actions in previous lives and in this life, and the result of those is this. The maturation of those is this. Why should I retaliate and become angry again, and harbor resentment, and hold a grudge against others when I experience the result of my own actions and the maturation of my own actions?
