They will constantly strive and abide in practice in order to seek the excellent Dharma. The Blessed One said: Maitreya, Bodhisattvas Mahasattvas should examine the twenty faults of being fond of activities. If those Bodhisattvas recognize these faults, they will have fewer desires and activities, and will constantly strive and abide in practice in order to seek the excellent Dharma. What are the twenty? Maitreya, Bodhisattvas who are fond of activities will be diligent in worldly affairs; they will abide in all evil deeds; they will be despised by those who are proficient in doctrine and meaning; they will be slandered by those who love inner meditation; they will engage in activities that perpetuate the beginningless and endless cycle of existence; they will not make offerings to Brahmins and faithful householders; their minds will tend to cling to things; their attachment will increase; they will constantly be entangled in household affairs; they will not become independent; they will constantly dwell in many deluded thoughts with inverted appearances; they will be diligent in household affairs; they will have great desire and attachment to those things; they will be displeased when they do not receive; they will constantly manifest the obscurations of karma filled with various afflictions; they will rely on male and female lay practitioners; they will spend their days and nights contemplating the types of food; they will constantly inquire about worldly affairs; they will be particularly fond of unreasonable speech; they will be punished by the power of those who practice pure conduct due to the arrogance of service; they will contemplate the faults of others but not contemplate their own faults; they will quickly despise words that are meaningful and definite. Maitreya, these twenty faults are the faults of Bodhisattvas who are fond of activities and puffed up with the arrogance of service. If those Bodhisattvas recognize these faults, they will have fewer desires and activities, abandon worldly affairs, and strive for activities that transcend the world. Then, at that time, the Blessed One spoke in verses.

These are what were declared. That will turn into bad karma, and will be far from excellent karma. Here, it will become longer than obtaining more. These are the faults of an attached mind. For monks who like to hear, uphold, and recite, they will not despise it, nor will they desire it. Meditators will rebuke it. These are the faults of constantly abiding in karma. They are manifestly diligent in the karma of samsara, and far from liberation, they abide in bondage. They do not properly enjoy places, retinues, and food. These are the faults of being attached to karma. They constantly take things, and do not rejoice in non-attachment. Without wealth, they strive for wealth. These are the faults of being attached to karma. They become attached to wandering in homes, delight in noise, thereby destroying everything. They become like putting a bird in a cage. These are the faults of being attached to karma. For the affairs of householders, they are constantly sorrowful. Even if completely tormented by afflictions, they will not renounce. They will never become true renunciates. These are the faults of liking karma. When urged by the lama, their mind is displeased, and they do not accept following instructions. That will quickly destroy discipline. These are the faults of liking karma. Constantly thinking about the karmas of staying at home, they will constantly crave, and will not meditate or renounce. These are the faults of liking karma. Their desire will increase greatly, they will crave and cling to tastes. They will not abandon it just because of a little harm. These are the faults of liking karma. They will like a large retinue, and will be very miserable when it declines. They will become foolish like a donkey. These are the faults of liking karma. Their mind is constantly filled with harmful intent. Karmas increase and do not end, they are tightly bound by the vines of craving. These are the faults of liking karma. They constantly do not rely on lamas, they rely on householders who follow the world. They also become jealous of those who abide in discipline. These are the faults of liking karma. Day and night, without other thoughts in their mind, they always think about food and clothing. That
