Being free from the three is therefore unconditioned. Great King, those who cultivate the nature of enlightenment in that way, and the essence of self in that way, and those who plant aspirations, and those who manifest joy, and those who desire, all of those are wrong efforts. Why is that? Great King, just as enlightenment is, so is the conduct of a Bodhisattva, therefore those who act in that way are acting correctly. Second chapter. Then, King Auspicious Array said to the Dharma-speaking monk Dharma Banner: Son of good family, may you rejoice in the truly correct conduct of the Bodhi sattvas! After saying that, the Dharma-speaking monk Dharma Banner said to King Auspicious Array: Great King, the conduct of Bodhisattvas is to be without arrogance towards all sentient beings, and to completely give away all possessions with equanimity. The conduct of Bodhisattvas is to not be arrogant with morality, and with equanimity, to truly take up all the qualities of morality, learning, and practice. The conduct of Bodhisattvas is to not be arrogant with patience, and with equanimity, to eliminate all suffering from beatings, anger, malice, and concealment, and all suffering from hatred. The conduct of Bodhisattvas is to not be arrogant with diligence, and with equanimity, to have diligence that is steadfast and blazing, and without weakness. The conduct of Bodhisattvas is to not be arrogant with meditation, and with equanimity, to cultivate meditation and liberation, as well as samadhi and absorption. The conduct of Bodhisattvas is to not be arrogant with wisdom, and with equanimity, to completely seek the accumulation of equal wisdom. The conduct of Bodhisattvas is to generate the divine abodes with equanimity, abandoning duality.

Maintaining friendship with impartiality towards those who are neither friends nor foes is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Engaging in superior intention with impartiality, without expecting reciprocation, is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. With impartiality in listening and practice, never being satisfied with seeking to hear, is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Teaching the Dharma without material gain, impartially without concealing the teacher's instructions, is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. In solitude, upholding the sacred Dharma with impartiality is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Seeking the knowledge of truth with impartiality regarding ultimate truth is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Subduing arrogance by being extremely respectful to sentient beings with impartiality is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Without conceit from having perfectly acquired all qualities, seeking to perfectly gather all qualities with impartiality is the conduct of Bodhisattvas. Then, King Excellent Array, having heard those truly authentic conducts of the Bodhisattvas, generated joy, satisfaction, delight, extreme joy, and a joyful and pleasant mind, and covered the Dharma-preaching monk Dharma Banner with whatever clothes and ornaments he was wearing. Those thousand sons also covered the Dharma-preaching monk Dharma Banner with their own ornaments, saying these words: "That we have obtained the opportunity to see, pay homage to, and serve such a noble being, we have indeed obtained a great benefit. May all sentient beings also obtain such conduct and courage as that of a Bodhisattva." Then the Dharma-preaching monk Dharma Banner said to King Excellent Array: "Great King, offering only clothes and ornaments is not a great offering. There are other, more excellent offerings than that, which you should perform. What are they?" Then...
