It is transformation. These are the four. O noble son, a Bodhisattva who possesses four qualities will meet with the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. What are the four? They are: having single-pointed mindfulness, repeatedly proclaiming the praises of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, having completely pure morality, and making aspirations with superior intention. These are the four. O noble son, if a Bodhisattva sees these four benefits, he will be delighted to make offerings to the Tathagata, namely, he will make offerings to the supreme object of offering, and having seen me, other sentient beings will also make offerings in the same way, and if he makes excellent offerings to the Tathagata, the mind of enlightenment will become firm, and if he directly sees the thirty-two marks of a great person, he will become the root of virtue and so on. O noble son, if a Bodhisattva sees these four benefits, he will be delighted to make offerings to the Tathagata. O noble son, similarly, if a Bodhisattva sees the four powers of meaning, he will diligently take up the training. What are the four? They are: completely passing beyond the lower realms, obtaining the happy realms, respecting the Tathagata, and completely fulfilling aspirations. These are the four. O noble son, these four are the trainings of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? They are: not abandoning the mind of enlightenment, equally engaging with all sentient beings, completely seeking the perfections, and not being discouraged from listening to the immeasurable teachings of the Buddha. O noble son, these four are the trainings of the Bodhisattvas. O noble son, these four are the completely pure trainings of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? They are: not engaging in what is not to be done, having faith in emptiness, not abandoning the enlightenment of the Buddha, and completely destroying views together with predispositions. O noble son, these four are the completely pure trainings of the Bodhisattvas. O noble son, these four are the lineages of the samadhi of the Bodhisattvas. What are the four? They are: being without busyness, being extremely secluded, being without mental defilement, and being virtuous.

The root is to rely closely, those four good things are the types of samadhi of the Bodhisattvas. These four good things are the proper engagement of the Bodhisattvas, what are the four? After the roots of virtue arise, they manifest the mind of enlightenment, there is no obstruction to settling correctly within, they become familiar with the doors of liberation, and they do not enter into certainty. These four good things are the proper engagement of the Bodhisattvas. These four good things are what Bodhisattvas should reverse the arising of improper thoughts, what are the four? Being frightened by the fear of samsara, not being pleased with yogic practices, not being happy with the intentions, and not manifestly accumulating roots of virtue. These four good things are what should reverse the arising of improper thoughts. These four good things are the definite thoughts in the minds of the Bodhisattvas, what are the four? For the sake of the benefit of some sentient beings, even until the end of the future kalpas, I shall wander in samsara, thinking, "I shall wander," this is the first definite thought in the mind. I shall know all the mental activities of all sentient beings, and in order to pacify their afflictions, and to know the superior and non-superior faculties, I shall teach the Dharma, thinking, "I shall teach the Dharma," this is the second definite thought in the mind. I shall abandon all non-virtuous dharmas, and having become endowed with all roots of virtue, I shall sit at the heart of enlightenment, defeat the armies of Mara, and manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, thinking, "I shall manifestly awaken to unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment," this is the third definite thought in the mind. Making the three thousand great thousand world realms known in an instant, and teaching the Dharma, thinking, "I shall teach the Dharma," this is the fourth definite thought in the mind, these four good things are the definite thoughts in the minds of the Bodhisattvas. These four good dharmas are the taming of the Maras by the Bodhisattvas, what are the four? Regarding Dharma as illusion
