Completely bestowed by the earth, completely bestowed by meditative stabilization and wisdom, as well as liberation and the wisdom of seeing liberation. These are the banners of the ascetics of the noble ones, and one should generate the mind in this way. Therefore, one should generate great respect for them, and generate great compassion for that bhikshu. This sinful conduct is not good, this conduct completely defiled by afflictions is not good. Thus, the Bhagavan, the Tathagata, the Arhat, the perfectly complete Buddha, the tamer, the one who is hidden, the guardian, even though he has been allotted the banner of the ascetic, this one is not tamed, not pacified, not hidden, not tamed, and engages in the conduct of one who is not a guardian. The Bhagavan said, "Do not despise the uninstructed," therefore, this is not his fault, but the fault of the afflictions that show these non-virtues. The teachings of the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, are accompanied by arising, therefore, if one understands these afflictions and properly attends to them, one will attain the first fruit, and there is a place where one will definitely turn towards unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. What is the reason for that? Because these afflictions should be illuminated by wisdom, therefore, the Bhagavan also said that one should not measure a person by a person, and if one measures a person by a person, one will decline. The Tathagata is the one who knows completely, I am not the one who knows completely, and after thinking in this way, one should generate harmlessness, non-hatred, non-anger, and non-annoyance towards that bhikshu. Other householder Bodhisattvas, if they want to enter the monastery, should abide at the gate of the monastery with a mind of guarding, a mind of ability, a mind of respect, a mind of humility, a mind of faith, and a mind of caution, and prostrate to the monastery with five limbs, and then enter the monastery facing inward. He should also examine in this way: This is the place of abiding in emptiness, the place of abiding in signlessness, the place of abiding in wishlessness, as well as loving-kindness, compassion,

It is the state of abiding in equanimity. This is the abode of meditators, the abode of those who have completely severed all states. This is the abode of those who perfectly renounce and those who perfectly enter. I too abide in dust. Having renounced the household life, when will I engage in such conduct? When will I abide in the activities of the Sangha, the activities of the Uposatha, the activities of the Pravāraṇā, and the activities of veneration? Thinking thus, one should rejoice in the mind of renunciation. There is no Bodhisattva who, remaining in the household, attains unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and becomes a Buddha. All of them, having renounced the household life, direct their minds to solitude, incline towards solitude, go to solitude, and then attain unsurpassed, perfect, complete enlightenment and become Buddhas. That Sangha is also perfectly accomplished. Abiding in the household is universally harmful, it is where dust falls. Renunciation is praised by the Buddha and his Śrāvakas. Abiding in the household is where many faults and transgressions accumulate. Renunciation is where many qualities and perfections accumulate. Abiding in the household is fearful. Renunciation is carefree. Abiding in the household is stained with clinging. Renunciation is liberation from clinging. Abiding in the household is the basis of misconduct. Renunciation is the basis of good conduct. Abiding in the household is abiding in dust. Renunciation is not abiding in dust. Abiding in the household is sinking in the mire of desire. Renunciation is extracting oneself from the mire of desire. Abiding in the household is the entry of fools. Renunciation is the entry of the wise. Abiding in the household is difficult to purify one's livelihood. Renunciation is easy to purify one's livelihood. Abiding in the household has many rivals. Renunciation is without rivals. Abiding in the household has much poverty. Renunciation is without poverty. Abiding in the household is a place of sorrow. Renunciation is joy. Abiding in the household is the staircase to the lower realms. Renunciation is the staircase to higher realms.
