Like a lamp, the wise one, the hero of humans who has reached the end of suffering. He has completely abandoned the paths of evil destinies, and should always cultivate the path of enlightenment. Second chapter. These four protectors of the realm are the bonds of bodhisattvas. What are the four? Disparaging others is a bond of bodhisattvas; engaging in meditation through worldly means; attachment to signs is a bond of bodhisattvas; having a mind of complete grasping, being separated from wisdom, and relying on carelessness are bonds of bodhisattvas; associating with family with a mind of following is a bond of bodhisattvas. These four protectors of the realm are the bonds of bodhisattvas. Then, the Blessed One at that time spoke these verses: Always despising others, always meditating on worldly contemplation, those who are like this are bound by this, like a long-bodied elephant sinking into the mud. Associating with family is connected with bonds, and whoever is careless always has a mind of complete grasping. Abandoning wisdom and becoming deluded in intelligence, these ignoble actions bind. Whoever desires to be liberated from suffering, fear, and old age, death, etc., abandoning contempt and arrogance, should always strive on the path of enlightenment. Having endured all endless suffering, having no attachment to all happiness, abandoning all beloved and unloved relatives, the steadfast ones will become buddhas free from sin. The six perfections, grounds, and qualities, powers and faculties, and association with knowledge, always possessing all qualities, will become buddhas liberated from the net of aging. When practicing in countless eons, for the benefit of sentient beings, for the sake of supreme enlightenment, always practicing generosity, discipline, and determination, abandoning relatives and dwelling in bliss. I am always happy in the remote forests, purifying my mind for the sake of enlightenment, never diminishing my effort even in a hundred paths, such is the wisdom of the great beings. Wandering in the five realms in the prison of existence, sentient beings.

Having seen the wandering beings, In the past, I generated great compassion here. For the sake of beings, I practiced the supreme Bodhi. In many kalpas, I sought the supreme Bodhi, My own sons, daughters, beloved wife, The cherished life and extremely prosperous lands, Cities, wealth, and grains, I gave away in abundance. In forests with flowers, fruits, abundant water, and delightful scenery, I, the capable one, became tolerant and joyful. The Kalinga king cut off my hands and feet, At that time, I did not develop a hateful mind. In the forests and valleys, when the one called Blue Lotus, The capable one, cared for the elderly lama, Even when struck by the human king's hard arrows, My mind did not think of harming in any way. For the sake of speaking well, from the cliff, Without regard for the body, I leaped down. I, for the cause of supreme Bodhi, Did not regard body and life. For the sake of the lives of the tigress and her cubs, I gave my body, satisfying the tigress. From the sky, the assembly of gods proclaimed: "Great being, steadfast in diligence, excellent friend!" When I previously engaged in worldly conduct, Extremely delighted in giving, when I became a Brahmin boy, For the sake of jewels, I dried up the ocean, Having found the jewels, I brought happiness to sentient beings. I became a king named Son of the Moon, When acting in the place called Rjodapagrashing, I, with truthful means, a hundred kings, Having killed, quickly liberated them. Having seen the poor and suffering people, I gave away my cherished body, I found wealth and made them rich. At that time, I became the All-Giving King. When I became a human king here, Having seen the dove that came for refuge, Having cut off flesh from my own body, I gave my own body, not being stingy due to fear. When I was previously the king named Ralpacan, The best doctors, for my sake, Prepared all the incomparable medicines, I gave up my life to measure them, and gave them away. For the sake of the benefit of beings, when I acted in the past, When I became the prince named Good Teeth, A wife who did not stray from her husband, Together with her son and daughter, without attachment, without looking, I gave them away. When I became known as Diligent Blaze, I, in the past, even when fully a thousand years old, Endured one hundred and fourteen difficult deeds. Wealth and glory.
