Maudgalyayana, although I have not done anything wrong to the foolish Devadatta with body, speech, or mind, he has long regarded me as an enemy. In all lifetimes, he has tried to hinder my manifestation of virtuous Dharma, but he has not been able to hinder my practice of virtue. I have always helped him with love and compassion for a long time, but he has not harbored any evil thoughts towards me. Maudgalyayana, Devadatta does not repay the kindness I have done in all lifetimes, even if I am as pure as Devadatta now, but in the world of gods, humans, asuras, etc., do not serve those who are ungrateful. Such people are bound to fall into evil paths. Maudgalyayana, when Devadatta dies, in order to enter the Avīci hell, the great hell of sentient beings, he will generate extra good thoughts. Devadatta, because of his extreme ingratitude, when he enters the Avīci hell, the great hell of sentient beings, he will make a loud noise, saying: Foolish Devadatta, you have generated hatred towards the Bhagavan, and because of maliciously killing those who should not be killed, with these sinful causes and conditions, today you have fallen into the Avīci hell, the great hell of sentient beings. After hearing such admonition, he was very frightened and became humble, saying: Now I, with flesh and bones, wholeheartedly take refuge in the Bhagavan. After saying this, sentient beings obtained happiness. He generated great faith in the Tathagata and made a loud noise. Because of the causes and conditions of entering the Avīci hell, the great hell of sentient beings, he later escaped from the hell of sentient beings, was reborn as a human, renounced from home to homelessness, practiced the path correctly, and finally...
