Mahāśumatā, how much the Tathāgata appears in the world, or completely passes into nirvāṇa, the number of Buddhas like the sands of the Ganges, the number of teachings that are truly protected, cannot be exhausted by words. Gaṅga, therefore, Bodhisattva Mahāsattvas, having heard the Dharma that they have never heard before, pay attention to it. If they contemplate, then they should know that they will obtain such a great treasure of merit. Gaṅga, if you think that at that time, the Bhikṣuṇī Mahāśumatā, having obtained the great power of preaching the Dharma, having heard the Dharma that she had never heard before, followed the meaning of the meaning, then you should not look at it like that. This is the Bodhisattva named Ke'u Werdu. At that time, Bhikṣuṇī Mahāśumatā protected the true Dharma, and having heard the Dharma that she had never heard before, followed the meaning, and because of the cause and condition of not being attached to words, she met many Buddhas, and heard many profound and vast Sūtras, and the cause and condition of past virtuous roots, and now these also truly gather all Dharmas, like the ocean of Dharma categories called Sūtras, and after asking, I also truly revealed it, so that countless sentient beings have obtained great benefits. Then, at that time, the Blessed One again revealed this meaning in verses and said: Bodhisattvas who have not heard the Dharma, having heard it, should think about the meaning, do not say that I have never heard it like this before. If you have heard the Dharma that you have not heard, think about the meaning with mindfulness, like water entering the sea, therefore wisdom will increase. Hearing much will increase, and wisdom will also increase, the work of the Buddha will be obtained, and broad thinking will also increase. Hearing much is like the sea, etc., and wisdom is also endless, knowing the meaning of words well, becoming the best among the best. Therefore, what has not been heard in the past should be truly heard, if you can hear what has not been heard, you will get such a different ripening. Second chapter. Furthermore, Bodhisattva Mahāsattva

One should generate the thought of earnestly desiring to cultivate extensive learning, and generate the thought of greatly delighting in dwelling in solitary places, and then with single-minded diligence and effort, one should cultivate the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Having cultivated it, in order to completely abandon hatred, one should meditate on loving-kindness. In order to completely abandon desire, one should meditate on impurity. In order to completely abandon ignorance, one should meditate on dependent origination. Gangpo, what is the diligence of a Bodhisattva? How does a Bodhisattva initiate diligence? Gangpo, if a Bodhisattva, for a period of time, such as a kalpa or less than a kalpa, guards pure morality, practices asceticism, and possesses the qualities of cultivation, but if he generates a mind of desire that pursues objects of focus, and is separated from the characteristics of correctness, then such an action should not be known as true diligence. Then, the venerable Gangpo said to the Bhagavan: "Bhagavan, what is the true diligence of a Bodhisattva, which is praised by the Tathagatas and not disparaged by the wise of the world?" The Bhagavan replied: "Gangpo, if a Bodhisattva hears a profound Dharma that has not been heard before, which is in accordance with emptiness, has no slightest characteristics, and accords with the ultimate truth, then in order to clearly understand its meaning without disagreement or contradiction, he generates diligent effort, listens without weariness, receives, reads, recites, and correctly explains it to others, this should be known as the true diligence of a Bodhisattva. If a Bodhisattva possesses this first Dharma, he will not turn back from the unsurpassed, perfectly complete enlightenment. Having heard the profound Sutras, and thoroughly understood their meaning, for that diligence without contradiction or conflict, the Buddhas will...
