Then, the great king, the earth deity, thought to himself: If the enjoyments of the human world are like this, then are there any enjoyments that are greater and more excellent than these? Thinking this, he wondered: I have heard that there is a place called the Thirty-three Gods, located on the summit of Mount Sumeru, what are their enjoyments like? Then, because the earth deity did not abandon his desire, he disparaged the enjoyments of humans and envied the enjoyments of the gods, thinking: Then I should go to the place of the Thirty-three Gods. He generated such a thought. As soon as the great king, the earth deity, generated this thought, he went with his fourfold army to the summit of Mount Sumeru, the king of mountains. Then, the lord of the gods, Indra, seeing the earth deity coming from afar, said: Great king, please come here. Great king, your arrival is most welcome. He offered half of his seat, saying: Great king, whenever you find it convenient, please sit on this seat. The earth deity also sat on half of Indra's seat. Indeed, there, among the Thirty-three Gods, he ruled over half of the kingdom and power for hundreds of thousands of years. After a long time had passed, he was overcome by great desire and thought: Alas, I should rule over all the kingdom and power in the Thirty-three Heavens. As soon as he generated this thought, he fell from half of the seat of Indra, the lord of the gods, and returned to a city in Jambudvipa called the House of Happiness (or House of Bliss). Because he had possessed such glory, when he returned to Jambudvipa, he could not bear the loss of this glory, and he sank and could not remain. Then, as the earth deity was sinking, he spoke these verses: Even the greatest kingdom and power, Cannot quell the craving for desire. Like fire consuming grass and wood, Therefore, desire should be completely abandoned. The pursuit of desire for a long time, Will never lead to a day of satisfaction.

One afflicted by thirst, even if drinking salt water in abundance, still feels parched. The waters of rivers can never satisfy the ocean. Likewise, if one indulges in desires, one will never be satisfied. Even if trees and grass are thoroughly burned, fire is never satisfied. Likewise, if one indulges in desires, one will never experience satisfaction from the enjoyment of desires. How can a mirror ever be satisfied by reflections? Likewise, if one indulges in forms, one will never experience satisfaction from the enjoyment of desires. How can a mountain echo ever be satisfied by sounds? Likewise, if one indulges in sounds, one will never experience satisfaction from the enjoyment of desires. How can a censer ever be satisfied by incense? Likewise, even if one indulges in scents, the nose will never be satisfied by odors. How can a ladle ever be satisfied by the finest tastes? Likewise, the tongue will never be satisfied by the finest tastes. How can the sky ever be satisfied by winds? Likewise, the body will never be satisfied by touch. For example, a person dreaming in a dream cannot be satisfied by drinking water. Likewise, the mind attached to Dharma will never be satisfied. Beings who rely on desire only increase their craving. If one closely associates with external objects, desire will never be satisfied. Who sees the suffering that arises from desires like thirst and fire? They will pacify craving, just as water is poured on fire. The great king, in that time, there arose a wheel-turning king named Earth God (Sa'i lha), if you doubt or hesitate whether he is another person, you should not view it that way. Why is that? Because that great king, in that time, was indeed the wheel-turning king named Earth God (Sa'i lha). Even though he ruled over such great and vast power, he was not satisfied by power and met his time of death. Why is that? Because, great king, the senses are insatiable and should not be satisfied, and objects do not bring satisfaction. The senses are like mirrors, and objects are like images.

Like a mirage, the senses are like mountain rocks, the objects are like sounds, the senses are like illusions, the objects are like dreams. Great King, you should have deep faith in this and not listen to the words of others! The fifteenth chapter ends. Great King, furthermore, in the past, there was a king named "I-win-son," who was known for his great magical powers, great strength, and great authority. This king was born from the crown of the fasting noble one. He had accumulated virtuous roots in the past, witnessed countless Buddhas, perfectly practiced virtuous roots, and offered pure white dharma to countless billions of Buddhas. He ruled over the four great continents and all power. When he lived in Jambudvipa, all sentient beings of the desire realm, whether humans or gods, were immersed in the enjoyment of desires. Among them, King I-win-son was highly praised for his enjoyment of desires. At that time, Jambudvipa was rich, prosperous, peaceful, and had good harvests, filled with many lives and humans. Towns, cities, villages, regions, territories, and the surroundings of the royal palace became crowded. The distance between villages also became very close, almost like the distance of a crow's flight. Because it was ruled by righteousness, this great earth had no rubble or gravel, was full of gold and silver, and was beautifully decorated with gardens, groves, ponds, and lakes. The surroundings of King I-win-son's royal palace were surrounded by a city called "Indestructible." This city was twelve yojanas long from east to west and seven yojanas wide from north to south. That was the wheel-turning king who appeared in the first kalpa, known for his great lineage, and was the earliest city of all kings. Just like the city of the thirty-three gods, Sudarshana, which has bells and bell nets hanging from above, it is very vast. Similarly, King I-win-son's spring residence, the palace called "Moon Rising," was also newly decorated.
